is out. Can't get to their site though. Don't really care benchmark-wise, but it's always fun to watch them the first time or two.

I'm still downloading @ 50 kps, but the edgefiles servers all seem to be dead now.

I forgot to download it. Choki came over and we played Castlevanias simultaneously. I'll grab it today. (Probably a better chance of a mirror being open anyway.)

I couldn't even get it from the website but I had much better luck logging directly into the ftp server.
ftp://ftp4.edgefiles.com [69.93.165.35]
/games-fusion.net/www/software/futuremark/3DMark05_v100_installer.zip
It downloaded at the max 50 KB/s sustained.
I'll run it now.

3nder: Are you running the new computer yet, or the old one? I'd be interested in the difference if you're still running the old one. (Once the new one is set up.)

Old computer still:
2.8GHz (533MHz Bus)
1GB Single Channel 266Mhz RAM
Radeon 9800Pro 128MB
Catalyst v4.9, DX v9.0c, XP SP2
3DMark05 Results (unregistered ver. defaults)
3DMark Score: 2151
GT1: 8.1 fps
GT2: 6.3 fps
GT3: 12.5 fps
CPU Score: 2760
CPU Test 1: 1.4 fps
CPU Test 2: 2.5 fps
Interestingly lower than McNevin's. I wonder if this version takes more advantage of the dual channel memory or if it a AMD v. Intel thing.
Very cool demo btw. Post if anyone comes across a crk.
Tune in next week for the results from the new upgrades.

I'm going to guess it's a combination. The dual channels probably help a little. The AMDs seem to have fairly efficient FP as well. The P4 should be faster in general though, so I'm going to lean toward RAM and chipset for the time being. Are you guys both running the latest ATI drivers? This may also have something to do with it.

I got the newest everything. As far as OS and Drivers go, me and ender are pretty much identical.

Interesting. So I'm going to go with memory bandwidth for now. AMDs don't have as many stages in their pipeline, so if the app wasn't coded carefully, perhaps any stalls are taking longer on the P4. I think the P4 has 20 stages, and the K7 has 12, so it takes less time to recover. I don't know if that's the case or not for 3DM05, but it could be. Never know. Does the i845 support AGP-8X? I don't remember for sure.

No, the i845 only supports AGP 4X. That doesn't usually make a huge difference, but maybe with something as new and benchmarky as 3DM05, it does make some difference.

He had better scores in both 3DMark03, and DOOM3.
But I do have PC400, Cas 2.0, Dual Channel.
And 8X AGP, Go School!

3534 @ defaults
I'm pretty sure I could bump that up a couple hundred. Since I've been playing mostly emulators and DOS games lately, I clocked my video card back to defaults. If I put it back up to my Doom 3 settings, I'm sure I'd hit around 3700 or so.
End Transmission.

* Updated Entech DLL
* One incorrect unit in the MS Excel importer has been fixed
