I'm still a fan of the Samsung. The color quality is amazing. I haven't seen the Dell in person yet though. I actually don't like spending money on displays, so I may or may not actually get one. Displays are like power supplies. They're one of the more boring parts of the system. Granted, a good one is a very nice thing to have, it's just not that exciting. Video cards are exciting, CPUs and fast memory are exciting. If I get one though, I'm probably getting the Samsung.

Nice on the power supply! I just went to my parents' house and picked up my CPU. It's a m0 2.8C (SL6Z5) with 30 caps under it. Which I'm told means that it was an Extreme Edition that failed its yield tests. This means it's extremely overclockable with air cooling. People are getting these up to 3.7 GHz with stock voltage and air cooling. (Think I'll run mine a bit lower though.) I'm thinking more like 3.2-3.4. WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I may have got tha flows!!!

Its almost a sl2w8! Let us know how that bad boy runs.
So gots the new supply in... aw she sure is perdy. Got easy grasp purple power connecters, and a sleeved atx power harness.
Its a tad louder than the old one, but it is also considerably heavier!
So here is my new all time 3d mark reccord: 5491
Thats with nothing overclocked. Just ram timings adjusted to 2.5-2-2-6, wich is actually more stable than 3-4-4-8 which is what the ram is spec'd at.

Very nice! I'll let you know as soon as I get home and pop it in. Yes, it's exactly like the SL2WXes.
I just listed an ad for my Alesis ION keyboard a few hours ago, and already the stupid Nigerians are on me for check scams. Fuckers. I've been telling them to fuck off, one by one. I also have an email address written down for the secret service counterfitting and fraud department somewhere. (Gonna forward these on to them.)

I just came across this PSU... and what a good design. I can definitely see modular power cables becoming a standard for non-oem parts. Reduces case clutter and looks cleaner...

I couldn't be happier with my PC now. WWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! It's so freckin' fast. 3.2 seems to be the happy spot with my current RAM. I am going to try to bump up the voltages a little from stock tonight, and take the variable speed thing off my CPU cooler (it's an inline Zalman knob thingy.) I may put a cool air fan in the front of my case, and run it at half speed (using +5 instead of +12.) Everything seems to be running cool, but I want to try and get everything running 100% happily at over 3.4.
Hmm... Perhaps it's about time to build a custom case. I'm thinking one made out of extremely thick clear plexi/lexan, that's been sanded (for a frosted effect,) would be cool. That way the whole case would have a nice diffused glow from any lights that might be inside. Could even have some unsanded parts where direct light could shine through, or where you could see the fancy modular power supply. A cube would be nice, though I really don't have a place for something that wide. Still, a frosted plastic cube with rounded corners would look pretty cool. Especially glowing dark blue. Could get standard blue lighting, and cover it with theatre-lighting gels to darken it further. Too many blue-lit cases have too bright a blue tone. Has anyone seen the PSOne LCD mods? People are taking the PSOne 5" LCDs out of their housing, embedding them in their PC cases, and using a second monitor output from their video cards to put a display on it. (I've seen people offload Winamp to the little screen.) Hmmmmmm.... Or I could just strip my case down to the load-baring members, and paint it black.
I've got some crazy overclocker ideas for this evening. I'm going to push things, and up voltages, and adjust timings and all kinds of fun stuff. I need to find a definitive acceptable range for CPU temperatures. I need to unlock my X800 pipelines as well. Need Seth to help though, as I don't have as nice a soldering device as he does. Instead of using Mr. Conductive Pen, we're going to solder a small piece of wire to the cut bridge. Hmmm, maybe I'll just try taping a piece of wire on there to see if it even works, then solder if it does. Think I'm going to try that too when i get home. WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been having fun with all this system tweaking. Have had that much OC fun since my unlocked P2-233.

So, I ripped off the cooler on my X800. The test points that I need to bridge are way smaller than I thought. Microscopic almost. I scraped the insulation off of them, and have two shiny test points. I then realized that I have nothing small enough to bridge them. And someone forgot to give me the trace pen last night. So I had to put it back together without unlocking the pipes. It's all set for when I have the pen though. I think the part number on my chip is one of the ones that may not work for this mod. There's one part number that works, one that doesn't, and a couple that people aren't sure about yet. Mine's one of the unsure ones. We'll see what happens though.
