Frick!!!!

Post by R3C »

Who's going to play System Shock 2 over the interwebule with me? I'm thinking Sunday fairly early. Actually, I bet nobody has a copy of it. Everyone needs to go buy this game. Then they need to call me, and then we need to play it coop multiplayer. Damn right over!!!

Last time it was played, about 40 of those little imported Red-Bull bottles were used, a few Thai teas, a metric ton of Uwaji-Snax TM, and three gallons of Justice Juice TM, were also expended. Two people should play from my house, and two people should play from out yonder. [TEE HEE HEE] -yonder- [TEE HEE HEE HEE HEE] :D :D :D :D :D

Blah.... . .. . .. ... . . .. . . . .. . .. . .. . .

It does indeed...

... support four players. I think it would be more stable now too. You were playing on Choki's computer when it was still haunted, so I think that's why we had the occasional problem. I want to cheat and increase our skills like before, but I don't know about the weapon crapping. It was a bit tedious. I don't think the guns are supposed to jam that often. I don't think they did when I was playing single player. I'd say Ender should get himself a copy and play, but scheduling might be a problem there. So perhaps McNevin, J3RK, Choki, and Rixlar, or Agent Bos or something........

Oh the weapon crapping... Those frackin guns jammed more times than you could shake a stick at.

I think we could shave at least 2 hours off the end, knowing how to correctly beat it now.

Yeah...

... it would be so cool, because it wouldn't take too long, but it would still be just as fun, if not more fun. We could start a game in the morning on Sunday.

if you can't find one, I could mail one down. You should actually be able to find it. I think I've even seen it available for download on HTTP sites. Even in some abandonware spots. I have it though, so I haven't tried that option. You might take a peek around though. The oldwarez newsgroup might have it.

There are a few people who have expressed an interest in this upcoming SS2 game of ours. Mostly because they want to see me actually play a game over *gasp* the internet. :D We shall have to start on it soon. The only problem is we have to have some decently dedicated people. Or maybe not. Remember you couldn't join my game-in-progress. I don't know if that was because of a number of players mismatch, or if it was simply the difference between a MP and SP game. I would think the latter, except that there didn't seem to be that much of a difference in the way you actually start a game in the menus. We should try and start a three player game, then drop one and see if the remaining two can continue on. And we need to remember that only the server side can save the game. I think it switches who is running the server if one person drops though, so maybe that won't be a problem either. We'll have to have a short R and D session sometime before we start actually playing.

Choki is only going to be working 2 jobs is it? as of this week, so this weekend we were thinking of playing some games. If you are around, that would be extra splendid. Otherwise perhaps Choki and I can continue my SS1 game or something. This is going to be quite fun. Oh, I turned up my Anisotropic filtering to 4X and AA to 2X, forced V-Sync, and overclocked the card a wee bit, (350 Core, and 333 (666 DDR x2 because of the 256 bit bus,) and everything I have is so extraordinarily quick, and extra pretty at 1024 or 1280 that I will never turn those settings off again. I never knew the Anisotropic filtering made such a dramatic difference over Trilinear. Well, I sort of did, but I haven't tried it first hand since around the GeForce 2 era, so I've never seen it run that fast and pretty. No filter banding, aliasing, or other weirdness. I ran Q3TA at 1600x1200 with 8x Aniso, and 2x AA, and it was the best I've ever seen it. Never dropped below refresh once.

Oh, and...

... the Catalyst 3.4 drivers are supposed to be out on the 15th, which include an across the board performance increase, (much like the usual Detonator increases,) but is supposed to be most noticeable on the 9700 Pro. Woohoo!!!! I can't wait for those, because then I can turn Aniso up to 8x and leave it. So I've been playing around with the 5800 Ultra, and I must say, it's not that bad apart from being super loud. It is actually quite a nice card if you use the 43.45 Detonators. I still wouldn't buy one at the price they're asking, but it definitely doesn't suck. I have been playing with a certain other card from nVidia, that I can't talk about, but it is quite, quite nice. Now if they would only make some better drivers for it available. I think it may be my next Video purchase. We'll see though.
