How splendid to have a lair once more. Shall I serve up some SID tunes [TEE HEE HEE]
Blizam!!
Blizam!!
You've been a thorn in my side for far too long Avatar!!!!
I'll have to find one. And now I'm off to get it. Oh, I just set up the best legacy box ever!!!
P2 400
256MB PC133
P3B-F
Voodoo 3 3000
SB16 non-PNP with Yamaha Wavetable daughtercard
3C905TX
40GB Seagate Barracuda 4
I'm running Windows 98 on it, but I took the boot menu we made for the old DOS drive, and copied it into a DOS shortcut on the desktop. When I click on it, the system reboots and gives me the menu. I've got U8 running in all its splendor, and Syndicate is quite happy too. I've got it on a switchbox on my main monitor and sound setup too, so it's DOS the way we never would have imagined it. (The line out on the SB16 is going to the Line in on my Audigy2, and then out to the speakers from there.)

I'll alert the others...
I'll mail Rixlor and Choki except I don't know Choki's email.
Oh, the super good thing about my legacy system...
...is the fact that it not only plays legacy DOS games, but also legacy Windows games. That's why there is a Voodoo 3 in it. I can play old Glide only games, like Need for Speed 2 SE. I can play Unreal the way it was supposed to look. And a bunch of nifty things like that. The only thing I wish is that it was smaller. It's in my first ever ATX case. The old knee-power-button Enlight with the destroyed cover clip (Drunken Ryland) and the stripped out screw holes of justice!!! I want to build a legacy box around a VIA EPIA mini ITX board (you should check out some of the wacky systems people build with these.) The only problem is that I couldn't have an ISA slot for my SB16. I was thinking about getting one of those, a Vibra 16 based tiny ISA SB16, and a PCI to ISA bridge card, (but I haven't seen a cheap, production, non-proto PCI to ISA bridge card yet,) so that may never happen.
Well, not really but...
... It was the smallest hard drive I had laying around. And if I do start installing a bunch of Windows Glide games, I think I could fill it up about half way. I had to partition it so it worked in real DOS, so I could use one of the partitions as backup space. Oh, I just remembered that I have a SCSI IBM 18GigaWANG UltraWANG. That could have worked pretty well I suppose.
Via Epia
Go to http://www.via.com.tw
Then go to the mini itx section, Epias, Edens, whatever blah blah blah.
Then select the projects. There is actually a better site with more and cooler ones of these projects, but I don't remember the URL. Someone built one into one of those little beer keg thingies. [/code]
