...you ask? Well I just beat it, and it is fuckin amazing! I can't remember a game with that captivating of a story in a really long time. Maybe since Full Throttle or Night Trap . But seriously, the gameplay is so good as well. All of the best parts of Tomb Raider with the running and the jumping and the swinging. If you are worried the puzzles in the first half of the game are too easy, fear not because they get more difficult. I was so into the story I was dissapointed when it was over (not because it wasn't done well, but because I wanted more). This game is really, REALLY good.
Others agree:
The new Prince of Persia is among the best games I have ever played in my life. It falls just a teeny bit short of legendary status - It's not quite the legendary, genre-defining stuff of Mario 3 or Half-Life - but it's very, very close, and it easily ranks as my favorite game out right now.
PoP: Sands of Time is a rare bird. It takes a genre that we are all familiar with, executes the standard formula extremely well, and then adds a new feature to the mix that completely blows all competition out of the water. If you are an action fan (hell, if you are a gamer) you owe it to yourself to pick up Prince of Persia: Sands of Time immediately.
But look, if you like adventure games, you'll love this game. If you like platform games, you'll love this game. It's got story, it's got action, it's got amazing graphics and some of the best animation you'll see anywhere. It's one of my favorite games, ever. And I've been playing games for a long time.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a game that can be recommended wholeheartedly. It looks fantastic and features responsive controls, some original play mechanics, a good story, and plenty of thrilling adventure. In the simplest terms: Do not miss out on this game.
This game has already cost me two play-till-4-in-the-morning-and-go-to-work-half-asleep days....
I find myself constantly saying "this game is so fuckin awesome!" in the middle of playing. Everything about it is amazing. story, gameplay, graphics...
... I may go out and buy a... ummm... another copy... yeah... buy another copy... Actually, when the price drops I'll buy it to replace my ill-gotten one. This kind of work needs to be rewarded.
... you SpiderChokiMonkey... We're at the same spot now. It took me a few tries to get past the part where you battle your beeeezzzaaarrrrroo dad, because I got there with nearly no health. I had to do the dash to the fountain, run from baddy, dash to fountain trick. Oh, and on Need for Speed Underground I modified almost all the rest of the cars. (I left out the stupid ones.) It turns out that the fully modified 350Z is a little nicer than the Skyline. (Perhaps it's all in my head because the meters are fairly similar though.) I customized it to look like a 911, so I'm happy with it. I easily came in first on every track with it.
... It took me about 2 years to beat System Shock (The best game ever created,) and about 2 years to beat Ultima 8 (Another excellent one,) because I didn't get totally into them the first time I played them. Then, in moments of boredom I decided to give them more of a chance and found them to be the best games I've ever played. (And they still are.) I've replayed them several times over the years too. Of course when I actually sat down to beat them, I played through in about 3-4 days. (Mostly solid play.) I played Another World through on the Amiga in a few days, then I played it through on the PC again (it had extra levels and a nifty Fairlight intro with the theme from Fletch,) so it was necessary. Did you ever try Flashback? That's an excellent game. Like Another World, but more in-depth. I need to play through that one again.
Hey SpiderMonk-a-ChokiChoki, perhaps that should be our next game to play through. A nice Flashback flashback. [TEE HEE HEE]
ok, this game is good. started last night around 8pm with a few buddies and four 18 packs, and we stopped around 5am this morning. We've completed 46% of the game. I had to miss two classes today due to lack of sleep and brain fuel. Thanks team POP!
I was a little disappointed to find that the PC version doesn't come with classic pop1 and 2. So disappointed that I started playing Dungeon Siege again.
I don't know if Rick can get free copies of the expansion, [TEE HEE HEE] but I can I worked on it. (We'll have to have a competition to see who can get the most free copies.) I haven't gone over to pick them up yet though. It was actually a pretty fun game. I think Rick's copies would be better than mine. The one's I get are the marketing samples, (Full game, but not in box.) Rick can probably get the full boxed version.
I completely stopped playing PoP SoT after I got WindWaker. (Actually I've stopped communicating with the outside world because of Windwaker.) The only people I talk to right now are the people that will come over and play it with me. SpiderMonkey often man's the Gameboy Advance for me and gathers tingle intelligence. Excellent work by the way Agent Choki. That and music making account for all of my spare time these days. I plan to go back and finish it off, but not until WindWaker is done.
Yes, you certainly are stuck in the shower prison, surrounded by large angry inmates. Not a position I like to often find myself in. In fact, I even tried to get you out of there, but those inmates are pretty hard. So it is at that point in a game that I recommend you give up. Sorry, it has been 6 months anyway. No need to delay the inevitable. So let's sit down and play ourselves some Flashback. I have always wanted to and never played it myself. I always likened it to Blackthorne, which was a fave of mine. I know I have it on Genesis. Isn't it on PCE as well. What do people in the know recommend we play it on (PC excluded)?
more like Another World actually. Blackthorne is too simple and arcadish. Flashback is way better. I highly recommend it. You won't be sorry you played it all the way through. Also, I'd get the SNES version over the Genesis one. Much closer to the Amiga and PC versions.
