Poll: Mario 3D Remakes on teh Switch
ICYMI, the word is out that Nintendo is likely to re-release remasters of all the great previously unreleased 3D Mario games on Switch this year. So which are you most likely to play first?
Re: Poll: Mario 3D Remakes on teh Switch
I love all of them, but Super Mario World and Mario 64 are still my favorites. Koa and I have just about completed New Super Mario Bros on the Switch. The kids and I beat Super Mario Odyssey (which IMO is the best recent Mario), and I'm quite fond of Super Mario 3D World on the Wii U. I take the Michael Bolton stance overall, but if I had to pick one 3D mario, it would be Mario 64. I love Sunshine too, and it may just about be time for a new play of that too. I went through most of it again about two years ago, but didn't quite finish it.

If I had a Switch, I would be eagerly awaiting a remaster of Mario Golf.

I entered a vote for Sunshine even though the answer is probably 64 because I'm pretty excited for that as well.
I never beat either Galaxy game. Didn't even enjoy the first one and liked the 2nd a fair bit more but then got distracted.
Also haven't beat the Odyssey because of damned desire for finding all the little stuff.

I beat the first Mario Galaxy. I liked the second one better, but still haven't completed it.
I think Super Mario World and Super Mario 64 are the only ones that I do 100% completion on, just because I always have. The rest, I just beat whenever it feels like I've seen enough of everything. I don't generally do all of the collecting.
Now Zelda games on the other hand, I do plenty of collecting. I haven't done the 900 Korok seed collection on Breath of the Wild though. I did do all the Maia Mai shells on the new Link's Awakening.

T'would seem it's more of a package of emulated games than anything remake like.

I grabbed it. It’s great! It’s not on the level of the Wii-U Zelda remasters, but it’s well done for what it is. The emulators are done in-house, and so far haven’t been subject to the texture alignment issues (and other flaws) of many of the “underground” emulators out there. Mario 64 looks great, and they have an unusual texture filter that works quite nicely, and really crisps things up in a good way.
It’s actually the best way short of an N64 and CRT to play Mario 64. I’ve gotten around 35 stars over the last day or two. On my way to 120
I haven’t played the others yet, but I imagine they’re on par with Dolphin give or take a bit.
Controls are responsive, and audio sync is good.
I don’t know if it’s worth $60 but it’s pretty fuckin’ good.
(To paraphrase Vincent Vega...)
I’d recommend it to Mario fans. Looking forward to the Mario 3D World port too. I gave Miette the Wii-U so I haven’t played it in a while.
It’s not a high end remaster, but I recommend it if you like these Marios.

Downloaded the Mario 3d All Stars and played Mario 64 for a good hour or two. Pretty damned fun still. I will probably keep at it.

Hit 60 stars last night on 64. It looks pretty amazing on the 86” TV
