New Usenet decision

Post by Beeeph »

Dear EarthLink Newsgroup User,

We are pleased to announce an upgrade to our Usenet service, effective immediately. Our new service includes increased speeds, improved reliability, longer article retention, more newsgroups, and more. Members will be permitted to download a maximum of 1500MB (1.5GB) over a rolling 30-day period. Users who exceed this quota will have a reduced download speed of 64Kbps until the account again falls below the quota.
Their free new upgrade, which they give you no choice but to take, works GREAT...for the first 2 hours that it takes to download 1.5 gigs. Thats not even a maaahfuckin full DVD! With their old newsgroups, I was averaging a cool 800kbps, which was great because it gave me bandwidth to be warezing on IRC along side the newsgroups. But how far can I really get cruisin at 64Kbps?

After doing the math, I've figured I download close to 400 gigs a month (which was a bit of a shock, but no joke). So earthlinks 1.5 gig quota just wont do. Anyone subscribe to other Usenets or have any opinions towards other Usenets they've used in the past? I'm looking for something with fast download speeds with unlimited downloads. Price is of very little concern.

Ender- That looks like a sweet deal.... I think I may bite the bullet and get one of these usenet accounts...

I don't know too much about usenet, but what kind of client do you use to browse the network??

Totally unrelated but... i've been doing alot of downloading on emule lately via sharereactor ed2k links... there's loads of stuff out there on the emule/edonkey network.... just slooooooooooow.
