Old but unknown HDD news

Post by enderzero »

No one told me that Seagate bought Maxtor. Good to know we will never have to see the stupid Maxtor brand name (eventually I guess).

Anyone thinking of getting perpendicular? The 7200.10 reviews are in and they look pretty damn good. BTW - has everyone seen how awesome Tom's Interactive HDD Benchmark is?

750GB 7200.10 @ $410 = $0.55/GB
300GB 7200.9 @ $110 = $0.36/GB
320GB 7200.10 @ $105 = $0.33/GB!!

I'm actually doin fine on storage.

:D Why would anyone read this forum? :D

I will be picking up one-them 90 degree drives (maybe two for mirroring) next time I need storage. I'm still having trouble filling up a 160 and 250 though. I don't have gigantor MP3 collections or anything like that to worry about. The emulator folders don't grow as rapidly as they used to, I only keep about 5-10 modern games on at a time, and my audio folder has gone through a shrinking process. (due to using hardware synthesizers again) It's nearly time for a big HDD cleaning spree again too. There is so much stuff still sitting on there that I don't ever use.
