I haven't seen it yet, but I think I'll give it a whirl tonight.

I managed to squeeze out a whopping 3600 3dmarks and I came really really really close to hitting a frame per second during the CPU test. really.

ewww :toontears:

613 3DMarks
290 -- n/a -- 928 (.295/.468)
all settings default (unregistered)

btw - I also ran it with a single 1GB stick to test single channel vs dual channel perf. (I normally have 2 x 512). Results:
594 3D Marks
280 -- n/a -- 924 (.294/.465)

I think that's because with an Intel chip the memory controller is in the chipset, whereas with AMD it's on chip. I get more performance with dual channel.

Radeon Xpress 200p board
1GB CVS DDR400
BFG 6800GT
Hitachi 250GB P-ATA

3DMark06 Results:
2421 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score 1061 (8.705fps/8.981fps)
HDR/SM3.0 Score 954 (8.450fpd/10.631fps)

Wow, I didn't get to see the remade Dragon/Dirigible demo last time. Very cool.

I put the new and improved sparkle*box through it's paces with 3dmark 06:

Code: Select all

CPU - AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
Internal Clock	2200 MHz
External Clock	200 MHz
Display Device	NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX
Total Local Video Memory	256 MB
Driver Version	8.4.2.1
VGA Memory Clock	1305 MHz
VGA Core Clock	516 MHz <--- overclocked from 430 MHz
Total Physical Memory	1024 MB

3DMark Score	4750 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score	1975
HDR/SM3.0 Score	1952
CPU Score	1606
Even hitting a mark as high as that, I can't really say the demo runs smooth. It never really creeps much past 30 in the fast parts, and the other parts are chop-tastic.

The lower clocked X2 crushes the CPU score of the 3200. 3DMark06 must be highly optimized for dual cores.

Ahh - but this thread has scores.

I tested the following system pre-upgrade:

P4 Prescott 3.4GHz
MSI 865
2GB Corsair XMS
ATI X1300 256MB AGP (borrowed)
300GB 7200.9

3DMark 06 - Default settings (1280x1024) v1.0.2

Code: Select all

FINAL SCORE = 727 3DMARKS

SM2 = 252 (1.689 / 2.516)
HDR/SM3 = 280 (2.571 / 3.025)
CPU = 621 (.199 / .310)
These scores are pretty rotten - but I should mention the PC doesn't run for more than an hour without shutting down - so there may be soemthing wrong with it. The X1300 seems to score better than the 9800Pro tho - even if my same CPU is scoring lower than it used to.

Here are the 3DMark05 scores. Reference the Old Bench Thread for old scores. Notice these are way lower than they used to be.

3DMark 2005 - Default settings (1024x768) v1.2.0

Code: Select all

FINAL SCORE = 1657 3DMARKS

(7.9 / 5.5 / 6.7)
CPU = 3062 (1.6 / 2.6)
Damn glad to be getting rid of this bitch ass computer.
