Which is not to say that I think Firefox or breaking Beeeph's computer are bad things...

Hey, beeeph needs all the help he can get lest he starts scraping his CD-keys into his games again...

I wish I could go back to earlier versions of Photoshop. I used to know how to make transparent GIFs in Photoshop without RTFM.

as long as your photoshop image has no background (e.g. when you can see the checkered bg), all you have to do is a File>Save for web...
Then under Settings on the right hand side, check the Transparency checkbox.

bam!

Firefox's NY Times Ad a Reality

Post by McNevin »

Firefox's New York Times ad finally made it to the paper Thursday after several delays. The two page spread listed the 8,000 users who contributed to a fund for the creation and placement of the advertisement.
10 Million users can't be wrong!

I think they wasted an opportunity to market on IE's weaknesses. There should have been at least one line in there about how FF is more secure...

They wasted an opportunity in having their browser integrated in the OS. :D That remains as the number one reason I won't use it. If I've said it 12 times, I've said it 123, and that's that if I can't fully get rid of IE without ill effects to Windows TM, then I won't use it. I only want one browser. Just having my subconscious knowing that there is an unused browser bothers the hell out of my silly-sideways brain. Every now and then, the thought of using FireFox intrigues me, but it will never happen.

HEE HEE, I've been drinking, and listening to The Alan Parsons Project, so I misspelled a few things in the last post. They should all be fixed now. :D Ahh, Steely Dan and The Alan Parsons Project.... Soft... Funky... excellent Rhodes and Clavinet.... Good stuff!!!

J3RK - I think you've talked up your anti-firefox-ness so much that, at this point, you can't switch anymore...

Embeded in the OS or not, it's still run as it's own process when you open an IE window (remember windows is built of components, so explorer.exe is not the same thing as iexplorer.exe and when you don't have my computer or file explorer open... there isn't any IE dll loaded into memory). I personally think IE is ugly, heavy, security-hole ridden, popup-happy, un-tabbed, and as far as MS is concerned a dead technology... I don't really understand your personal reasons for using it, but more power to yah!

Even if you don't use it, you have to apreciate how firefox has brought competition back to the browser "market." (and I use that term lightly as no browsers are actually sold... except for opera I think)

No, I only elevated my opinion to the level I did, because *someone* tried to force me to use it. :D If there was a compelling reason for me to switch, I would. So it IS still possible, but I still haven't seen anything worthy of my time. I keep XP in "Windows Classic" mode, but for some reason I thinking it uses IE anyway, when browsing folders and such. I just know that if I remove it, something stupid is going to happen that will make me have to install it again. Like I said, I don't want two installed either. If some crazy-insane feature that I absolutely HAVE to have is added, then I'll definitely give it a go, it's just not worth it for me at the moment. I don't have enough time to write music and play games, let alone install and configure extraneous utilities.

I donated at the student level not long after I read about the initial drive. I don't think it took them too long to raise the money. It was smart of them to include a donate by paypal option.

Yes it was in alphabetical order.
