RJD2's latest Since We Last Spoke

Post by enderzero »

Every once in a while a film or album comes out that is just so damn good it deserves its own thread. Since We Last Spoke is the latest to drop my jaw in awe. I hesitate to call it new because it came out last May, but I just discovered it. Fantastic!! For those of you familiar with RJD2's earlier work it is a huge change. Before listening to it I tagged it as Hip-Hop because of his past CDs. I am going to have to change that now, but I can't figure out what to change it to. It fuses trip-hop with rock and then throws in some electro breaks and some funky horns. It all jumbles together to be one of the coolest albums I have ever found.

I think pretty much everyone on this forum will really dig this CD. Goemon, this particularly reminds me of you. You must be bumpin it J.me, eh? J3RK, db, Spidermunk, E.D., anyone that enjoys good and experimental music please give it a listen.

Haven't peeped it yet because I heard so-so reviews from hip hop heads. But most of those people are anti-Def Jux (so called, "Def Sux"), so their opinion may be tainted.

I'll grab it; also gotta update my latest listens in that other thread soon...

pshhhhht... been rockin this since you wuz still in school!

wait... :shifty:

Yeah, I dig it. But it's deff not a Hiphop album, and anyone going in expecting that will be dissapointed (hence the haters)

On another note. Just discovered a dude named Scott Matelic. He's produced beats for Sage Francis, but strangely is on a japanese label. His album, Primitive Pessimist, is a bit like a lighter version of Endtroducing (DJ Shadow, of course) but has moments that are a bit more hip-hop. Deff cool... been listening to it alot lately.
