So, for those of you (all two) from here that came over the other night, and watched as I battled with DOSBox to try and get System Shock working (even though it worked about 3 days before) I have fixed it.
Well, I didn't really fix it; the DOSBox team did.
They just released a new official version, and there are even a couple of new frontends for it that support the new version entirely. So, if you like such things, http://dosbox.sourceforge.net
It works with everything I've thrown at it so far, and I've hardly had to configure a single thing. I went in the config file just to turn up the quality of the Soundblaster emulation to 44100Hz, and to automatically map my DOS game directory to a drive letter when it starts up.
Not bad for such a complicated emulator.
I suggest you get it if you play anything DOS.
System Shock (probably the most power-hungry DOS game ever,) is running in 640x480 mode at silky-smooth speeds.
System Shock Misbehavior Fixed!!! Woohooo!!!
