Post by Evil Dan »

So yeah Gmail is teh roxors and evrything but I have a question for those of you who use Gmail: can you create mailing lists with gmail? If so, how? Because that is something I have not seen how to do with gmail and it would be very handy right now.

Dan! Whassup man? I've been meaning to email you. How're things goin?

I don't think there is any kind of listserve functionality built into gmail (yet). Let us know if you turn up anything.

BTW - They seem to have upped the invite count to 50. Let me know if anyone still doesn't have an acct that wants one.

Word on the street is that rar is the new cool way to do virus transmittal. guess g mail will be blocking that soon.

Way to go virus heads... now howmy'gona send attachments
Late last month, administrators and service providers began seeing virus-infected messages with a new type of attachment hitting their mail servers: an .rar archive. .Rar files are similar to .zip files in that they are containers used to hold one or more compressed files. The .rar format is not as widely known as .zip, but it is used for a number of tasks, including compressing very large files, such as music and video.

Maybe they will allow you to block (or unblock) certain attachment types. But what is the deal with that quote? First, do you really say an .rar file? Used to compress music and video? uhhh... :uhh: sure it is. whenever I am done mastering a new track or editting my latest vid I always pop it into rar compression for easy viewing and listening access. I think they meant for easy spanning of multiple files for very large files.

I think the "music and video" comment is meant to scare people from pirating.

Which means that McNevin works undercover for the MPAA. :uhh:

Hey Ender, I did actually figure a way around it and have devised a way to create a mailing list of sorts. You create a new contact and then list the email addresses as such blank1@gmail.com>, <blank2@gmail.com>, <blank3@gmail.com

leaving out the < and > at the beginning and end of the list, because gmail adds those on its own. Ghetto but it works.

Anyways, yeah drop me a lin some time Ender. Let me know how college is going. I'm working as a substitute teacher right now while I go to grad school. Im working on my MAed and my teaching credentials.
