Mr*: Sorry if I woke you with that tech support call yesterday. Haven't worked it out yet. It's almost like the hardware disappeared. I checked the innards of Teh Goebox and it seems like everything is connected OK. I can't update the drivers because the "hardware cannot be found". :madder:

I haven't tried kicking it yet.

Bora2 is the next tropical place I want to go to. I actually had planned to hit it, Tahiti, and Morea a couple years back, but I picked the worst possible time, so it would have cost around $12,000-15,000. Gotta pick a good time to go there. I'm thinking in a year or two I'll be making the French-Polynesian rounds.

Fiji seems like a good place to go as well.

The only complaints I've ever heard about any of those places is pesky little mosquito bugs and things like that. Otherwise tippity top.

Have fun!

J3RK: We went to Fiji for Y2K and it was definately worth the trip. We booked it last minute and it was off-season, so it was relatively cheap. I guess you have to be lucky with the rain for both Fiji and BB; it supposedly rained for 2 weeks straight before we got to Fiji, but we had perfect weather for the week we were there. I'd recommend it if you can get a good flight. We stayed on two islands during our trip, Tokoriki and Matamanoa.

As far as Tahiti goes: Mosquitos are a concern, but we'll be staying in overwater bungalows which are supposed to have less problems of that nature. :grinnin: Some friends went to BB for Christmas and didn't have any problems with bites.

Endurr: Teh Goebox is teh muteness. Goebox doesn't seem to recognize my Audigy card anymore. It's weird. It's like it just up an' disappeared (even though it's still sitting in there). Would a un/re-install work maybe?

I think you should try pulling out the card, rebooting. turn it off. pop it back in, then boot 'er up to see if it will re-recognize it.

Have you moved the PC at all? Sometimes moving them will pop a card out a little bit. That seems more likely than a driver disappearing or something like that.

Edit: 3nder you son of a JERX0R!!! I didn't type Driv(A)r, I typed Driv(E)r.

I'm back and it was absolutely perfect. :grinnin: I've gone from swimming in crystal blue waters to swimming in work though; I'll post some pics and info in a few days once I get my head above the sewage.

It's taking me longer than expected to get above sewage-level; here are a few of our Tahiti pics. Preview:

I have a bunch of analog pics to scan, including all of our underwater shots.

There are plenty of the happy couple, but only one of us in that batch. You might have noticed a picture of us posing with this dude. I still have to sort through all of the analog pics and scan some of them.

And there must be about 60 drunken sunset shots; "Ohhh...look at the pink clouds!" :wasted:  I didn't want to subject you to all of them, especially because the pictures can't do justice to the reality.
