No, he definitely hasn't. I don't understand how anyone could play that way. It drives me fucking bananas. Maybe if we explain what's happening, subconsciously it'll start bothering him. If you don't have VSync on, the card is free to render however many frames per second it likes. The "Tearing" effect is frames being partially drawn, and then other frames are draw the rest of the way, so you're getting many parts of different frames drawn on the same page. If you took a screenshot, it would look ugly. If you sync it, one frame is drawn per refresh, and this never happens. NOW TURN IT ON!!!

I found some interesting stuff today.
In the section [engine.engine] in unreal.ini
You will notice you are set to RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
There is another option RenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice
This would seem to be available at this point and time, but it doesnt work. Aparently you need the file d3d9drv.dll which does not exist.
Actually it apeared once in the 3204 patch, but was removed for subsequent patches.
Know anything about this?
Also some cool stuff under there as well like:
OverrideDesktopRefreshRate=True
DesiredRefreshRate=75
Check it out...

Oh, I've been all up in that INI file
That's the first thing I do when I install an Unreal Engine game. I go in, up the cache, turn on triple buffering, set my sync rate, turn off texture compression, etc.
Choki and I played Enclave last night at it's absolute maximum settings, and it looked so good, I could nearly not believe it. It looks better than UT2004, and better than a great many other modern games. It's right up there with FarCry actually. I had never cranked the curved surfaces and some of the other wacky option all the way up before, and I don't think I had run it in 1600x1200 either. WOW!!!
I also never played it from the dark side, which is quite fun. Though the boss girl gets annoying after a while. She also needs an exterminator. There's tons of bugs in the lair.
Just got my Windfall island on too Already to start sailing around on Windwaker. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! Choki and I did some pig tossing yesterday. Threw them right of Disco Stu's cliff we did.

Saw this on Beyond3d.com forums.
D3D9Drv is just D3DDrv but instead of using the DX8.1 interface it's using the DX9 interface. It's a straight port that actually yields lower performance the last time I tested and should have absolutely the same visual output. We accidentaly released it with a patch and its raison d'etre is Win64 support.

Yes!! Fuq it good!!! Stupid RAMBus junk. Stupid company. Stupid stupid stupid stupid.
Hey, I've got an idea, how about we make the only serial interface memory in the industry, and try to get a big company like Intel to back it!! I know it's got latency issues, and we'll be charging a HUGE premium, but I think a lot of people will buy it. Then when more people start buying SDRAM, we'll sue all the companies selling it for infringements on patents that we helped developed for the standard.
WWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a company...

I don't know how I missed this thread, but I can't believe charlene made a nice enough impression for you to remember. I guess with looks like hers , she'd be a hard one to forget.McNevin wrote:Ahh Charlene, the ultimate case mod
I used to have a case that looked rather like that, but not black. Just a skeletal Enlight case... If I wasn't so concerned about noise (With the computer sitting in the middle of the living room) I could imagine having an open case. Would be cool to make a case out of round steel stock. With little coupling pieces for corners and mounting. (Kinda the skyscraper under construction look.)
Better yet, let's make the helmet PC. You wear the pc on the top of your head, and have a little 2" screen in front of one of your eyes. It will all be attached to a collander, like the thing Egon puts on Lewis Tully in ghostbusters. With lots of curled wires. It will have to be nano-ITX or mini-ITX. We can use a notebook HDD too. It will have a nice little chin-strap too.
Yes have some.
