Some E3 news

Post by enderzero »

Been looking into E3 news a little. Man ign.com sucks. I think GameInfoWire isn't so bad tho.

Main piece of news is that the retail on Xbox has been dropped to $180. Damn that is cheap for a region free DVD player, Game console, Media player, full on console emulating console AND MORE. This scene is gonna be around for ever if it can do this much already. And for so cheap! I saw a used one in a store here for 8800 Yen - that's less than $75!!

Some game info fo ya...

Tron 2.0
Look out cycles3d cause here is the real thing and it looks damn good! It is based on the new LithTech engine. I liked this little bit (altho you ATI bandwagon jumpers might not be so impressed :D):
"New visual effects designed exclusively for TRON 2.0 by nVidia."

Half-life 2
Continuing with our "from Kirkland" game tour of E3 here are a couple screens:

Time fo Defiance
Get this:

Time of Defiance is a massively multiplayer real time strategy game, with astonishing graphics, based upon many thousands of small floating islands on the remains of the planet of Nespanona.

Sound familiar? Stratosphere anyone?

That was by Ripcord...who is this winner by? "Nicely Crafted" I guess...

Actually it is already out. Damn I missed it.

There is a nice playstation emu for the X-Box now. I think there is a news item about it on www.retrogames.com

It should run at full speed, as a P3 733 with a GF4 would. (even with a full-blown-larger-overhead-OS on it.)

Yes I will look into that. Nothing like a little shubibinman on the ol xbox. Unfortunately it doesn't like CD-Rs much so the games would have to be burned to CD-RW.

I have not - I want a decent GBA emu for xbox. I did recently play thru Dracula X for the ol SNES and it rocked. Anyone else played it? Okay so I picked up this Key at like the 3rd or 4th level (where you have to jump all the gaps without falling or you go to the next level - ahh precious save states). The key takes the place of your special weapon. So I beat the entire game including Dracula with no special weapon because I thought the key would do something...NOTHING! or at least I can't figure it out.

Anyone know?

On Joe's suggestion I downloaded the full Half-life 2 E3 demonstration. Amazing!!

I definitely am gonna need a PC before this sucka comes out.

Worth the 500MB download to see.

I also downloaded the "trailers" for:

Doom 3 - this is gonna be soooo awesome! It looks like they have really captured the feeling of Doom. I am excited!

Halo 2 - looks like Halo with better models

Metroid 2 GC - Looks cool. Damn I need to play the first one. Anyone play it?

Starfox 2 GC - looks as lame as the first one.

TMNT - Cell shaded 3D arcade style beat em up a la first Turtles arcade game. Might skip this one.

Mario Kart GC - ha ha all the karting goodness is back.

Resident Evil Outbreak - cool demo (or video of demo) - worth downloading and watching even if you never play the game
