Official Doom 3 date...

Good ol' SP!!!!! That was a fun place to go. Allen wiped out half of his Amiga discs because he rented Emerald Mine, and it had a virus. It ate most of his disks. I don't know why he didn't keep the write protected. All of my Amiga discs were write protected. That store prompted me to get plenty of obscure and crazy copy programs.

Wait a second... Didn't you say you wouldn't play BF1942 because you don't like WWII games?
Some of my best memories are from pir8ing a game. I have had fun with purchased games as well (mainly console) but over the years I have had more fun getting or trying to get a game online than ever riding home reading a manual. CD-Key woes have been more of a problem over the last couple years but even those aren't as bad these days (especially when you just call and tell them yours didn't have a cd-key - it really didn't... that is our 2nd one, heh). But with cracked servers, online gaming is becoming more accessible as well. Really though, how many games do you play online? We have had way more fun playing on the ol' LAN. But that is beside the point. I am just saying that I have had just as much fun warezing (wasn't that fun last week K3v, even though we weren't playing much?) a game as ever had buying a game, but with more money left in my pocket. Which is the point I made earlier. So I'll just shut up now.

Oh, I'm not trying to persuade anyone to stop pirating anything. I'm all for it, I just don't prefer it for games anymore. I do enjoy me up some Usenetted audio apps! And ROMs. I would still encourage people to buy Doom 3 and HalfLife 2 though. With all the absolute shit being sold right now, I think companies that make something special should get paid. Silly I know, but oh well. This thread just got me thinking of the fun game buying trips, and how exciting they were. It's rare that I feel like that anymore.
Found the GOTY edition for $10 plus ground shipping for $2. Ordered it. Now, if I end up finding my old one, if someone wants it, it will be available.
Wolfenstein is not a standard -try to recreate world war 2- game. It's weird, and has lots of crazy retro sci-fi-stuff... It plays like an Id game. It's also nice as a tactical-yet-still-fun type of game. It's also fun MP with just a few players, whereas the other war games require tons of players to be very fun. And we all know that I won't play MM games with people I don't know or like.
And then there is my Id/Raven collection to consider. I have all Doom, Quake, Hexen, Heretic, and Wolf games. All versions, all addons, all sourceports, etc. One day, this collection will be compiled onto a DVD or two, with the sourceports in place for the older games, all patched up and ready to play. I'm still actively working on this. (I just have to wait for a few of the ports to mature a bit.)

Oh, and I don't like my tactical games to be too SIMmy. I like a concise set of controls, I like the action to be fast. In the manner of say Strike-Force, Counter-Strike, Urban Terror etc.
I would probably even play BF, but I don't have it. And the likelihood of everyone playing at once in order to make it fun, is non-existent. The best results we've had so far, is me, Rixler, and McNevin all playing Diablo 2 at once. Getting enough player for a game like BF is pretty much impossible. (And I won't play on big servers with people I don't know.)

That's 6 gigs of textures, game data and a few levels. The Bonus Packs, are more levels. I don't think the main game has enough of them. I've already played them all to death. You guys are extremely latent in getting ahold of this game. I know all the assault and onslaught maps inside out. I know where every vehicle and weapon cache is. I know good places to kill from. Blah Blah Blah. I like some of those levels and would be happy to play some of them, but it would be good to have some that I haven't played yet. And if one of us installs bonus material, we all kind of have to, or downloading will occur.
