The lamp....

Post by spidermonkey »

I stopped being lazy a couple of days ago and finished it. I still have to work on the attachment to wall part a bit though.

It's no Jonathan original, but it's authentic. Mom recently asked me if I could find a place on the internet that sold Christmas story leg lamps as she wanted one for xmas, so I said I'd look into it. There's plenty of places that sell rip off replicas for $200+ online. So with the help of dan's manaquin supplies and the local lamp shop, I built one for ~$29.00.

It's missing the shoe because it ain't easy to find a black, size 5, 3" stelleto these days. But when I find it, its goin on.

Fraaaaaa geeeee lay....Must be italian!

Anyone have any thoughts as to how I can make the leg part light up like, I think, the one in the movie does? I can't figure how to put a bright enough light inside to light it up without building up enough heat to do damage. The only thing I can think of is implementing some sort of fan and vent circuit, and that sounds a bit too futuristic for a leg lamp. Spiderchode, how are you dealing with heat building up in your lamp?

Only having to shine trough paper rather than a plastic leg, mine is about 5 or 6 15 watt bulbs, so it doesn't get too hot. How about an array of bright LEDs....?

Well thats it then, I'll re-make the lamp! This time, I'll make it out of paper.

If you make it from paper, won't that cause problems when you lick it?

A leg made out of breast? That might be too jiggly creating a strobe effect.

You'll simply have to keep the temperature slightly cool inside and give it a lick or two now and then. Easy enough.

a lick or two now and then
Who can really limit themselves like that? I certainly can't. Once I start licking, I don't stop until I get to the sweet insides.

Then that settles it.

Beeeph:

Fill it, fill it to the brim with something sweet. Then you can lick, lick until you reach the sweet innerd. The innerd which keeps you licking until reached. The well deserved sweet reward for licking oh, so, much. Delicious.
