The Fire Theft/Jeremy Enigk/Sunny Day Real Estate-Jeremy Enigk has recorded and scored some songs for the movie "The United States Of Leland". So far three songs are available on the internet, and let me tell you, they are just spectacular. Buzzworthiest and I concur that these songs are Jeremy at his finest almost.
The Fire Theft are playing in Seattle on my birthday and I have tickets! I am really excited because this is the only show on the tour that they will be headlining. Very cool.

Music making its way to my ears lately follows...although some of this seems a bit old now.
Brand New - Deja Entendu: The second half of this album doesn't quite have what the first half does but the first half is some of the best new rock I have heard recently. Check out songs "Sic Transit Gloria ... Glory Fades" and "The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows."
The New Amsterdams - Worse for the Wear: I like bands with the word "new" in their name. If they sound like The Get Up Kids that's because they are (minus a couple members). Maybe we should just call them the Matt Pryor Bands from now on. This CD, released late last summer is much better than the new GUK that dropped earlier this month, but not as good as 2002's On A Wire.
Kanye West - The College Dropout: Jesus loves Kan-ye. And so does Jigga. But this dude has got beats fo sho and a tight cast of guest emcees keep the album moving along well. "Through the Wire" is the cut.
Something Corporate - North: I am finally starting to slow down my listening of this anthem packed pop-punk masterpiece. It will definitely go down as one of the albums that I listened the shit out of.
I gotta admit, I still listen to The Mars Volta as much as ever as well. Time to get my new music on I think though.

THE POSTAL SERVICE!!! Amazing! That CD is sooooooo good. Its got such a cool 80s new wave electronic feel strongly rooted in NW emo. I almost teared up during "Such Great Heights." That song is so amazing and I just kept thinking how fuckin fantastic it is to find new music you like so much right off the bat. It was like I just popped my first Built To Spill CD in or something. When the female vocals come in... DAMN! So good. I love finding new music! Thank you!!

I am so amazed by this Postal Service album. I just have to post again.
I have listened to it only 4 times (I am trying to savor it) and every time I hear it it gets better. Every track!! It is such different music, I don't know who to recommend it to. All I know is that is is by far the best thing I have heard in a really long time. The upbeat tempo, groovy synths, brilliant lyrics, masterful production... sooooo good. J3RK, I think you might enjoy giving this a listen if you get the chance.
After hearing Jenny Lewis's work on the CD I decided to check out her main band Rilo Kiley, which I already happened to have on my pod. It is a bit hit and miss, but the better tracks on their latest, The Execution of All Things, are quite good.
Let me reiterate for those that aren't paying attention:

I feel so lucky to have discovered both this band and the amazing movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in the same week.
I am so amazed by this Postal Service album. I just have to post again.
