I would recommend these bands if you like heavy music in the slightest.
IN FLAMES - Current songs I would recommend for a flavor sample "Bullet Ride" and "Trigger". Anything 1999+ (haven't had a chance to listen to anything before that...they have TONS...I now know why these guys are so huge and what all the hub-bub is about)
OPETH - ANYTHING BY OPETH IS THA SHIT One of my new favoritest bands. I would highly recommend starting off with with one album at a time...its so good you'll be addicted quickly. Try out "Still Life", "Deliverance" and "Blackwater Park". Heavy music mixed with beautiful melody, if you like Porcupine Tree then you definately be interested to hear this.
LAMB OF GOD - "As the Palaces Burn" This band has grabbed my attention with the quickness! Their latest effort named above is certainly one of the best METAL albums I've heard in a while. Shredding riffs and awesome drumwork and vocals, these guys have it all in the metal department...check these guys out.
BLEEDING THROUGH - "This is Love, This is Murderous" A decent hardcore band out of Orange County? Is that possible? Indeed. Speedy harcore with spineripping drums, guitars and vocals. Very upbeat hardcore music with a different flavor.
New albums that I am Anticipating HIGHLY...
Killswitch Engage - "The End of Heartache" (may 2004) Quite possibly one of my most highly anticipated albums of the year. If you haven't become a fan of their 2002 album "Alive or Just Breathing" you aren't a fan of metal. AOJB is most certainly always in my rotation even to THIS DAY! Whether it be in my car, at work, or at home...I always have Killswitch ready to go.
Candiria - "What Doesn't Kill You..." Everyone here who knows me should know by now that I am a HUGE Candiria fan. They put out their last album in 2000 "300% Density" which in my opinion is one of the best albums EVER.
The Dillinger Escape Plan - "Not sure the title" new release slated for may/june. I recently went to the Showbox with ED9k and Jesse Brasch to enjoy the group that is...DEP. The show was fucking off the hook. They are one of the most high energy technical bands out there. They played some new songs off of the upcoming album as well as the classics off of "Calculating Infinity" and "DEP with Mike Patton". Let me just leave it at the fact I can not WAIT for their new release.
There are more...I'll continue to update this thread.
UPDATE: MUZAK teh Bos man is listening to as of late...
