Snow in Duvall

Post by enderzero »

Crazy snow storm knocked all kinds of trees down at my Dad's place. Check out the first one. That is the root system of that 100 ft cotton wood near the road. WOAH!

... ice-storm. My parents took pictures of their trees, and they are completely encased in ice. They actually shattered over night. They had 145 trees down on their hill. I'll have to forward the pictures to you. They're actually quite amazing. Only the deciduous trees were destroyed. The evergreens are fine.

... it was winter... for three days... Now it's just raining and moderately cold. Bleh. I want more frickin' snow god frickin' jesus mcfuck damnit!!! Something in the 10-18 inch range. Like 1990. That was nice because we had about 18-20 inches in some places that year, and I could jump from high places and land flat on my back. Wooo Woooo.... Fun stuff...

My step mom said that entire huge crop of poplar trees that has been growing in the valley next to Woodinville-Duvall Rd. got wiped out. Their house was cut off by downed trees for like 2 days. While I clearly remember big snow storms (1990 especially), I can't remember anything like this.

The snow did odd things to people downtown. People were snowboarding down Queen Ann Hill, others cross-country skied by the needle, and some went sledding on mattresses and toilet seats on Wall street hill by the Cyclops. The sledders were insane as there was still traffic in the cross-streets. They would wait for the traffic lights and then take off, hoping for the best. Casualties of the day included an eighty-year-old woman hit by some kids on an errant mattress and some kid hitting a telephone pole and breaking his arm.
