Where should I go for my visa jump?
So now I have to decide where to go since I am not going to Hong Kong. Seoul is the cheapest. Thailand sounds like fun, but is more expensive to fly (although is probably the cheapest once there). Hawaii is the safest. Any other ideas? Post em here...QUICK!

Vladivostock is sunny this time of year!!
Ok champ, so with the occurrence of a rather nasty little bug, (nastier than the smell of my armpits), i reckon you should check out Vladivostock! But seriously, Bali could be cool, cheap, cheap like the birdie and lots of islands to hop to - check it out, Damo

Good advice man. I am going to Guam. Booked my tickets today. But I hear the surf is poor (although there was a tsunami - or was it typhoon - there not too long ago). Maybe I can still get out on a board for my first time...are backflips possible on surf boards?
So my process of decision went like this: Seoul and Taipei were both pretty cheap (less than Y30,000 ) but I am really not too interested in either city. A couple friends were almost going to join me in Seoul, but they ended up not being able to...so I thought if I am going somewhere by myself it should be warm and cheap. I decided against Thailand because it was too dangerous (I mean - not really, but not as safe as the other options). I was really considering Bali, but the flight there is over 6 hours if it was non stop and the flight back I looked into stopped, making it a 10 hour flight!! Saipan was a possibility...but where the fuck is Saipan? So I chose Guam because it is only 3.5 hours away, is cheap, is warm, and because I have been told they have many American amenities (like super markets, etc,) - although this remains to be seen.
Anyway, unless something changes (imagine that) I will be leaving Sunday morning.

Judging by home page comment (or 'Top' as they call it on jap sites), Guam didn't pan out. Seriously, be bloody careful in HK. Your a nut for going in the middle of this crisis. Perhaps you could spend the 10 days ordering in every type of Chinese take-away available. just dont let the delivery man into the apartment. Good luck.
ps - you will have to go into 1 week quarantine before you visit my house to collect your stuff. Think I am joking? :-D
