Latest video games I've played...

Post by Bill Drayton Jr. »

Silent Huntar! Wolves of teh pacific:

I finally installed and played my $9.99 submarine game...My official review in two words: Time Compression...yeah...by design this game is so boring they give you a key to speed the game up. It's more of a simulator than a game. Is interesting how they actually calculated how to hit a boat back then...

Unreal Tournament 3:

I think I may be a little less motivated to play this type of FPS now because I have played them so much. It is a great game and it would be incredible if I were a little kid just starting out and that was the first FPS I had played but now it's just ok even though it is pretty cool.

Left 4 Dead:

I find this more fun the UT3.

Grand Theft Auto IV:

I've completed 51.84% of the game. It's technically pretty amazing and even though the graphics are very intensive the CPU power required to run the game so intense the CPU can't keep up with the high end video cards. According to HardOCP tests the frame rate is slower with the highest end cards where a 9800 will outperform a 285...
The game itself is getting very tedious though...It's basically, drive to some point on the map, watch an interactive sequence to find out who to kill, drive to that point on the map, do some killing, get some money, replenish your vest & bullets - repeat... Recorded time playing it is only 31hrs but I reloaded the game a lot so it's more like 50hrs of actual play time plus a lot time just randomly driving around killing things.

Spore:

Bored with it - got to last stage and didn't finish it.

Hellgate:

Has been pretty fun but haven't finished it yet. Much more likely to finish this game than GTA4.

Battlefield 2142: Not so good and buggy

Going to start playing teh witchar now...

I've been taking a little game break but am jonesin for something. I really think I oughtta go back and finish Bioshock since I never did.

I'd really like a cool pirate game. Any such thing?

I played GTA4 but like all the GTA games was completely bored by the missions and just drove around running over people.

I played Civilization Revolutions a TON until I realized I had to stop because I was just playing it way too much (that was about the end of my gaming for a month). I also realized I greatly prefer turn based games to RTS.

I could go for a good Dungeon Siege/Diablo -esque experience. That could be kinda fun. But I refuse to go anywhere near any life destroying MMOs.

I think the last good pirate game was the Sid Meier's Pirates game which is still quite playable.
I suppose there is also the Pirates of the Burning Sea which is apparently not bad if you're into paying monthly subscription fees... I have yet to play it though, despite having worked at the company for 8 or 9 months...
