Our favorite whip-wielding side-scroller is coming to the big screen.
I can't hope for much...
Dimension has also picked up the rights to distribute Cory Yuen's adaptation of Dead or Alive the movie (starring Devon Aoki, Jamie Pressly, and others).
Comic book movies have finally gotten good - maybe video games are next.

YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!
Just got EPSXE running smooth as silk, and am having a delightful time with Symphony of the Night!! I haven't actually played past the first area before. Very fun indeed. I've gone all the way to the opposite end of the castle, and have yet to pick up a decent weapon though. I'm still using the short sword, as the only other option is "Red Rust"
BTW: Mist could pass.

Ok, now I'm all weaponed up, and making some decent progress. I need the god damned double jump though. That would make things so much better. I find that having a quick little knife weapon in one hand, and a longer more powerful sword in the other is an excellent way to go. I use the knife most of the time, unless there are tricky enemies with a long reach, or floaty ones like the Ectoplasm. I can't believe it took me this long to get into this one. I think the XXXX of Sorrow ones are a bit more varied, but it's nice to play a modern CVania on a larger screen. I'm also in the middle of Rondo of Blood. I have to beat it every six months or so. It's still one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite. Some people in here are slacky-lazy bastards for not having beat that one. Stupid...
... and if you think you'll get sympathy from the shark well then you won't!!

Castlevanias are on hold for a couple days. People started moving into my town in Animal Crossing, my mortgage is almost paid off, I've made donations to the museum, and have spent some time fishing, catching bugs, and eating apples. I also furnished my living room with a train set, and a telescope. I also found my own constellation at the observatory which I named "J of J3RK" because it's "J" shaped. I guess you can break into houses at night, and take peoples' things. But I don't know if I'll be trying it out with this game. Last time I quit without saving, this little bastard gopher guy came to my house (he said he was sent by Nintendo,) and yelled at me for wasting my life by not saving my progress. He also said he'd be back if I did it again. I wonder how much data is sent back to Nintendo, (prompting them to make sure you always save, always play, etc) Hmmmm...
I was going to do it again just to piss him off, but you can't skip the sequence. It took forever last time. VERY cool game though. I may rename the ROM and copy it to my flash device again, and start up a game where I'm nothing but mean and evil to everyone. I'll steal all their shovels, furniture, and stockpile it at the museum bar. I'll stick it all on stage next to the piano, and drink at the bar whilst guarding my ill-gotten treasures. The bartender is pretty cool. His name is Brewster, he wears a vest, has a little moustache. He's the best damn bartender from here to Portland Maine... or Portland Oregon for that matter. Good man that Lloyd... umm... I mean... Brewster...
I will be resuming my regularly scheduled CVania-ing soon though. Making some good progress in SotN.

DAMMIT!
Why didn't anyone tell me Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles was PSP only... Grrrr!
"This upcoming PSP-exclusive remake of Rondo of Blood is easily the best-looking handheld Castlevania to date..." "Dracula X Chronicles will include three games: the new 3D remake, the original 2D game, and a newly enhanced Symphony of the Night."
on a side note, has anyone played Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin?

I wouldn't buy the fighting game. In fact, I just don't like anything that isn't a standard 2D Castlevania. I started playing the 3D ones for the PS2 (emulated of course,) and they really aren't all that fun.
I can't wait for the DS one, but I don't have a DS right now. I gave my Lite to my wee girl. I plan to get another at some point, but I really wasn't using it that much. I think I'd rather get a Pandora though. (but then I'd miss some DS games)

I first played Castlevania on the NES when I was 10, although I didn't get very into it at the time. The NES offerings are very hard, and the control is very frustrating. It wasn't until I started playing Symphony of the Night, for the PSX, that I truly came to love this franchise. Albeit hard, Rhondo of Blood is also debatable as a turning point of the series. The three dimensional Castlevania offerings have never been really good, its thru portable gaming the the true essence of the Symphony of the Night style Castlevania lives on. You should check out the Castlevania retrospective if you haven't already.

RLY?!?one!>!
It was the third NES game I owned when I was 7 years old (and only beat the original a few years ago on emu). But I played the sequel (way more RPG-ey) a whole hell of a lot more beating that one multiple times on the NES.
Simon Belmont was such a big part of Nintendo that he was one of the main characters in the Captain N cartoon.
The series made appearances on all the Nintendo consoles/handhelds though I have to admit it didn't really make it back into my regular play until it made its triumphant resurgence on the GBA (which I mainly played on emu) and then going back to Symphony of the Night/Rondo/DraculaX. If I remember correctly Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow are the better, more adventure than action, of the three (Circle of the Moon being the weaker). I am very much looking forward to playing the NDS versions.
On a side note, there is some question if it will ever get made, but I read the script for the movie by Paul W.S. Anderson and was quite impressed.
