Medal Of Honor: Pacific Assault

Post by mistasparkle* »

Any of you guys pick it up?

I'm a huge fan of the original Medal of Honoe, and a sucker for WW2 fps'ers in general, but...

EA outdid themselves on this one with hollywood production quality. The all new engine that supports shader model 2.0 is a bit too much of a beast for my rapidly aging 9700 to handle, but it puts out some pretty impressive scenes. The south-pacific jungles, that the game is set in are lush, and alive with swaying/interactive foliage, super high res textures, and has really nice touches like shadows and highlights that give the effect of sunlight filtered through the canopy. The jungle scenes in MOHPA rival those of Far Cry. The soundtrack is also worth noting. Being that they released a directors cut DVD with a "making of" and soundtrack, I think EA had the game originally scored with real instrument arrangements. The single player game is fairly "on-rails" as far as progression goes, but it works in such a good way that you never feel restricted and prevents getting bored or having to gues what to do next. It's a nice blend of cinema and game. Definitely check it out.

anyone else grab it yet?

With the next expansion pack you'll be able to storm Fallujah.
