No more translating German, no more mismatched file versions, and no more garbage!!! I hate garbage. Stupid garbage. Now I just need new NV drivers that have the support enabled by default, and I'm all set.

I can't wait to get home and cleanse the filth that is the pieced together DX9.0C. WWWWOOOOOO!!!!!

These dirty hands...

Get those dirty bastards off your pc. Now all we need is some fully released SP2.

They released SP2 2162 to the general public today, and called it PRE RTM.

Shouldnt be long now... Especially with the release of DX9C

I'm having extreme difficulty getting System Shock 2 to work now. It doesn't like Hyperthreading or Mult-Proc systems. You can do some wacky stuff, like make a little batch file, that will set it to run all of it's processes on a single logical processor, but I also have issues with it going black when you start a game. There is a fix for this, but it is a replacement .EXE file. Well you may think that would be fine, but for some reason my M1612 doesn't like the safedisc anymore (it used to be fine,) so I need to crack it to run it. Well, can't run the cracked exe when I need the XP/2K fixed exe to get rid of the black screen problem. And it I get the NO-CD patcher, it doesn't get the right CRC from the fixed .EXE. So basically, I have to patch it, fix it for XP/2K (which I didn't used to have to do,) the I have to crack it, so it will load in the first place, and then I have to disable SMP for it. (Which I can do manually in the task manager, by Alt-Tabbing out once it loads,) but I still have to somehow fix and crack it. I wonder if Daemon Tools is causing problems, because the SafeDisc used to work fine with my drive. It's a fairly old SafeDisc though, (1.5 I think.) I bought the fucking game for full price when it came out, now I want to play it god-damn-it!! Well, as soon as I sort this mess out, you, me, and Choki should play it. It seems like we're all ready to play it now again.

Have you tried "Un-Safedisc?"

Found this guide, but it looks like everything you already know.

Yes... i have determined that you should...

run unsafedisc on the black-screen replacement exe.

Ahh, I will try that. I wasn't even trying to use Rebirth. I can't decide if I like it or not yet. I mean, the models are very nice, and suit the game well, but since they are so detailed, that there should be a few variations on each one. It's like the crew was cloned for every mutant. With the crazy boxy characters, it just adds a more surreal feeling to the whole thing. Rather dream-like. If the Rebirth guy gets more time to work on it now that he's employed, I would be happy to install it again. I may anyway, but it would be a lot better if say, there were a couple different midwives, a couple different crewmen, and a couple different mutants. Even slight variations would be cool. (Don't know if that's possible though.) Who knows. I'll try unsafediscing it when I get home. I'll try manually switching to uni-proc from the game, first. If that works, then I'll create my batch file again to do it automatically. I'll let you know what happens. I won't be able to try anything until around 11:30 or so. Must... Play... System Shock 2... Or else... If I could just...

I found some additional information that may help me. some guy had the exact same problem I'm having (minus the safedisc crap,) and setting the compatibility mode to Windows 2000 fixed it. I tried the 9x settings, but didn't think Win2k would make a difference, so I skipped it. Maybe I can run the HT patch on the cracked EXE, and then run that in compat mode.

That's a nice site. I usually go to www.ttlg.com

I think it's going to work now. I don't think I'm going to have the black screen problem anymore. I think my system was just in a wacky state. All I should have to do is patch, crack, dehyperthread, and unsafedisc. I'll try it this afternoon.

I actually saw someone say to unsafedisc it , so i guess you will have good luck with that.

I hate EA. If they would just give up the rights to the System Shock name, (which they're never going to use anyway,) then Irrational/LG would make a new one. Jesus McFucking bastards!! There are even several thousand entries at the ol' petition site.

There are 10829 signatures on the System Shock 3 petition site. That's a substantial number even if there are double entries and things like that. What the hell is their problem?
