You should go grab the new WinUAE. It's got easy configuration now. You can just choose "A500" and it will emulate an A500. You can choose "A1200" and it will do that. You can still change all the chipset options and everything, but if you just want to play a game, just click A500, load the disk image, and BLAM!!!!

I have every Amiga rom up to the letter T. Do either of you have most T-Z roms by any chance?

Well, they aren't ROMs you see. They're disk images.

I don't collect Amiga stuff like that either. There is a TON of crap available for it besides the metric ton of good stuff. You really have to know what you're looking for, or try them and filter the crap. I have the definitive Amiga collection. Compatible with Amiga users like me, SpiderMonkey, Rixler, SethZ0r, IvanZ0r, McNevitron, etc. It will fit on a single CD as well. Perhaps it should be sent your way soon. You should definitely get that new WinUAE then if you're into Amiga bizniss these days, because it will make it a lot easier for you to play most of that stuff.

Use A1200 mode for any AGA games.

Use A500 mode for any ECS games.

I'm not sure if there is an A1000 mode or not, but for OCS games A500 should work if there isn't an A1000 mode. Or I can make a custom A1000 mode and send it to you. Some of the really old games like to work on OCS only.

The other problem is that no games were ever made for the Amiga with titles starting with T-Z.

Yep. He's right. There are no games that start with T-Z.

You might be thinking, "What about Turrican, X-Out, Unreal, Treasure Trap, Xenon, Trex Warrior, Wolf Child, and the like?" Well, you imagined them. All of them. There are no such games, and there never were.

Don't forget, they do not exist.

Now get to work. You have a lot of pre-T-Z games to play. Might I recommend the best ones?

Awesome (Psygnosis/Reflections)
Leander (Psygnosis/Traveller's Tales)
Shadow of the Beast I-III (Psygnosis/Reflections)
Star Control I (Accolade)
Disposable Hero (Gremlin)
Dr. Plummit's House of Flux (Who the frack knows...)
Assassin (Team 17)
Alien Breed (Team 17)
Project X (Team 17)
Apidya (Playbyte/Bluebyte)
Agony (Psygnosis)
Bill's Tomato Game (Psygnosis)
Speedball 2 Brutal Deluxe (Bitmap Brothers)
Chaos Engine (Bitmap Brothers)
Magic Pockets (Bitmap Brothers)
Gods (Bitmap Brothers)
Extreme Violence (Who the frack knows...)
Flood (Who the frack knows...)
Mega lo mania (Imageworks)
Harlequin (Gremlin)
Infestation (Psygnosis)
It Came from the Desert (Cinemaware)
Killing Gameshow (Psygnosis)
Lemming (Psygnosis)
Lionheart (Who the frack knows...)
Neuromancer (Who the frack knows...)
Ork (Psygnosis)
Rodland (Jaleco) Better than the arcade version.
Simulcra (Graftgold)
Cadaver (Who the frack knows...)

That's off the top of my head. There are a lot more good ones. There are probably near a thousand total, and I'd say 40% are worth keeping. I probably have about 100. (I only keep the best, and only the games that weren't originally on another system, like arcade and console ports.)

I always liked Murrican, R-Out, Inreal, Preasure Trap, Denon, Mex Warrior, and Bolf Child.

Also you left out F40 pursuit and whatever that cop game was where you could shoot at the little kid outside the door and then get in your car and drive somewhere else... Was that even an Amiga game? It didn't start with T. I know that much...

It was JechnoCop. When you shoot someone they turn into a pile of bloody yuckness. I didn't really like F40 all that much, but it does have a slight appeal in that it was the first racing game I ever saw that looked that good. Until then Outrun looked the best. Then came Lotus Turbo Challenge. Still an excellent sprite based, no damage, racing game. I had tons of fun playing that.

You mean you didn't like the F40 Pursuit feature where once you've steered the car, you can never get it going straight again and then you crash into something and your car implodes?
I seem to remember a painful week or so after we first got the A500 where we only had those games and The Last Crusade.

That was a VERY painful few days. F40, Last Crusade, and there was one more really stupid game. Then Seth came over and we copied many a game.

Oh, I forgot one game. Swearaway Shomas!! That was a mildly entertaining platformer. If there were Amiga games that started with T, I'd rename it to Tearin' Ass Thomas though. Instead of the fictional Tearaway...

It's reall too bad they never made games that begin with the last few letters of the alphabet.

Fool was a pretty fun platform game too. Lots of candy in that one. :D

Almost forgot:

SubTrade is an underwater version of M.U.L.E.

Pwin World is another game that should start with T, but it doesn't because there aren't any Amiga games that start with T.

Nice eh? I still use my old profiles, but I tweaked a couple options per the built in ones. Works very well. Oh, the coolest thing is that you can set it to double scan and use 100Hz, so you get 50Hz PAL modes without the little stuttering that happens due to the difference between 50 and 60 Hz. (Because most monitors won't let you switch to 50Hz.) Very cool....

I'm going to try out Disposable Hero today. I didn't have it back in the Amiga era. It's a newer Gremlin shooter, and it looks really cool. R-Typish, but a bit fancier.

Then we can play Malker 2 player. You can man the left and right keys and I'll shoot Nazis.

That's an excellent idea. That's kinda like Katakis where player two controls the droid/shield unit. :D

Wow, there are a lot of games that involve the killing of Nazis. Wolfenstein, BloodRayne (if I'm not mistaken,) Malker, Mortyr, and probably a huge host of WWII games...

Silly Nazis...

I run PAL modes in 800x600 (doubled, with scanlines,) at 100Hz, and it couldn't look better. Now I want to go home and play me up some Amiga games.

It's Wednesday. Were you going to be in the area? I have to toss a computer together, but other than that, I have nothing going on. Could do some playery...
