What is ScummVM?


ScummVM is an implementation of LucasArts S.C.U.M.M. (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) interpreter, used in games such as Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Day Of The Tentacle, Sam and Max, and many more. Some things are still missing, and some games cannot be completeted yet. There are quite a few known bugs. Regardless of the bugs it is still possible to play some games all the way through to the end. Still other games do not load at all. Keep your eye on our Compatability page to see which games function with the current build. Comments and suggestions can be left in our forum.

I sort of like some of the SCUMM games. Like Sam n Max, DOTT, and IJFoA, etc.

Who wouldn't like those games. I do actually hate that interface. I much prefer Sierra SCI games, but the games themselves are of the highest quality.

... game developer was, it wouldn't be John Carmack, or Rick Saenz, or Tim Sweeney, or Gabe Newell (hee hee hee) or Richard Gariott, or whoever the people were that did Quest for Glory. It would be Ron Gilbert 100% Even though I've never played a SCUMM game for more than 2 minutes because I hate the interface.

Actually, I love all of the SCUMM games, but I like to watch someone else play while I give my input. I like to use a human as a human interface device. [TEE HEE HEE] SpiderMonkey always did the playing while I watched and was additional brain power. So really, (and don't let Rixlor find out,) that list at the top of this reply are my favorite game developers. Minus of course Gabe Newell who is just a level builder and engine milker and not much more. Because if he was more, Half Life would look like Tenebrae or something by now. Pluehhh!!!

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy SCI and AGI as well as the next fellow, but I actually perfer SCUMM.

As you all know I'm a huge fan of Ron Gilbert, and I celebrate his entire catalog, even Loom(TM)

Now we just need to find out what Ron did to Rixlor to cause all of this. Did he host a boring developement seminar that Rixlor had to sit through at some convention? Did he drive his car all the way up here and smash it into Rixlors? Did he make fun of Rixlors all time idol Chris Taylor?
