MAME Classics

Post by enderzero »

Hey all you out there in JoyMaster MarkX land. What were some of those rather recent top down games we used to play. I clearly remember a feudal themed one where you walked around flinging massive amounts of weapons from your body. I think there was another more standard Raiden styled ship with plenty of firepower top-downer.

While we are on the subject, what are the best MAME roms (aka arcade games) out there. I'll throw out a few obvious ones...

Money Puzzle Exchanger

Puzzle Bobble Family

Land Maker

Mappy

... Metal Slug 5. Fun game. I'm working on the new .81 ROM set right now. Including all the CHD Hard-drive games, and games that use CDs like Street Fighter III, I think the collection should be just over 30 GBs. Nice eh? I've got an extra 40GB drive that may house that collection for transport and copy purposes for anyone who wants it.

Close but not quite db. Puzzle Bobble stars our same scaled friends Bub and Bob but this time has them shooting multi colored balls at other balls to match them up and make them disappear.

It is better known at least in the US of A as Bust A Move.

I got a hold of Metal Slug 5 as well and can play it and apparently all other high memory NeoGeo, CPS1&2 games in the KawaX xbox emu.

So the Metal Slug series is a definite MAME fave. How about...

Rolling Thunder
Strider
Uo Poko
Magical Drop

more, more...

Check out this new Classic Gamer downloadable pdf mag.

And John Woo is considering to make a Metroid film.

(and for the record, I'm still a Xybots fan for the two player action...)

Well you guys are doing a great job of agreeing with games that I already nominated. How about some new nominations for Best of MAME status?

KAWA-X is the greatest piece of SW to come out for the Xbox in a while. You rockin this McNevin? It allows emulation of all CPS1, CPS2, and NeoGeo games that were previously unplayable in MAME-X and MAMEoX because of memory limitations. Been playin some of these (especially CPS-2) over at SparklePad and they are so much fun.

Another one of those out of control fill the screen with so much firepower top down shooters I was thinking of was Giga Wing. We were rockin this last night.

Along with all the newer Street Fighter greats.

Some rom resources here Sparkle. CPS-2 Gallery and Retrogames CPS-2 Rom list.

Got to get some Gunwange playin in. Check out this action.

Watch out for giant Cat-Spiders (especially with fruit on their heads).
