Hey Fattwins!
Sorry for not getting back to you on this. I think you posted it the day I left the country and no other tech monkeys seemed to rise to the occasion. I hope you are still checking the forum occasionally.
Still having the problem?
Your description is a bit vague so I am gonna ask you some things that might fill in some holes. Let me start out by saying "My name is detective John Kimball..."
1. Who is your daddy and what does he do?
as for the video camera problem:
Is this a new problem? Have you ever been able to capture video on your computer? (I am assuming it is a PC, eh?) What is different about the way you are capturing now from methods you have used in the past?
Do you have the software CD that came with the Sony TRV-30 or have you been able to download all the software from Sony? (You should be able to find some of the sw, at least drivers, here:
http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/ )
I have never captured with a sony cam but I have with a few others, mainly Canon. The process should be pretty simple when you get the software working. Hook up cam, open sw. You should see a display window. When you press play on the cam the video should display in the window. The tricky part is getting the correct drivers to let you see the video feed. If this is where the trouble is then check out the drivers on the sony page. Once you have the video displaying you can just click capture to input each chunk of video. If your video is coming in with digital artifacts or too slow (dropping frames) then either the computer or the bus is too slow to capture reliably. If you are capturing to an external hard drive, try capturing to the internal drive and then transferring the video files.
If the software you are using to capture is the problem you may be able to use 3rd part capture software. The TRV-30 is a pretty common cam so a lot of sw should support it. Here are some sw download pages for this kind of thing. Note: I have not tried any of these and most of them probably suck or don't do what you want...but at least it is a start. If there is a particular program you know that you would like to try but can't find then let us know.

( ^^^ yes the actual correct URL is download.com.com )
Hope something in here helps. Once again, sorry about the late reply. Please post back and let me know how its goin.
