I've got a friend living in Spokane, and I'm thinking of heading over that way with my board. I figure it won't be so different in price from going to Hokkers, and at least there should be a decent base over there.

So if you're starting from Spokane, where would you go to board? And would it be about the same as going to Niseko?

From what I lurned in skool, Spokane is located in the state of Washington in the US. It appears that Ocean is appealing to the monkeys on this board since most of them live/have lived in Washington state. Since it's in the Eastern part of the state though, I'm not sure how familiar these Seatowners are with it's beautiful downtown:

Sorry about the delayed response. Spokane is in Washington State, but it happens to be on the opposite side of the state from Seattle and the main population of monkeys. In fact, most people form Seattle don't think of Eastern Washington as really even being anything like Western Washington. It might as well be a different state...not that any of that really matters to you.

hmmm, places to snowboard around Spokane? Well any of the main ski areas on the western side of the Cascades would be too far unless you say, rented a car in Seattle (I imagine you will fly into there) and took your time driving across the state. You can get to Spokane in less than 8 hours if you really haul ass, but to get the best riding you would probably want to go the slower route and ride at Steven's Pass. Be aware though, snow resorts in Washington are not like a resort at all. Basically it is just a place to ride at the top of a pass with no town, village, hotels, etc. You may however be able to find a small inn or bed and breakfast within an hour or so. Try the city of Leavenworth for a bavarian tourist village.

If you are flying to Spokane you may need to go into Idaho to find a nice place to ride. I believe Schweitzer is only about an hour and a half from Spokane. I haven't been there, but the resort is owned by the same company that owns Steven's.

I am not too sure how long a drive into the BC interior would take form Spokompton, but if it was strictly a snowboarding trip, that is where you would get the best riding.

So Spokane is not particularly a hub for great snowboarding then. I'll have to look into this a bit more carefully.

I'd really like to ride in the States sometime as I haven't ridden outside Japan...
