Wasn't that drop during the "Asain Financial Crisis," where the devalued Thai Baht and Indonesian meltdown dragged the financial region into the toilet?
Also, wondering if you are making this prediction based on some imminent bad news?
You just sparked my curiosity is all....

The total destruction of Tokyo by the next big rumbler will lead to a plummetting yen, followed by a temporary recovery due to the building boom.
But I think db maybe has something else in mind...

I'll go buy Yen tomorrow. I certainly know better than to ignore financial advice from Damian.

Looks like the dollar dropped quite a bit today. Would you wait until the end of the week to see if it rebounds? I was planning to buy quite a bit. Maybe I should avoid that at less than 112 Yen.
Ahhh, had you not mentioned this at all I just would have happily bought Yen at whatever price it was...now I know it will be a bad deal.

So even in the high 111s,
Travelex (formerly Thomas Cook) is buying at 108.6 Yen. I can then assume that at 115, they would then buy at 111.7. Is this the standard for liquid exchange or should I try to find someplace better? The other place I called is buying at 104 Yen!
Yowzaaas, tough times for the dollar.
The other option is I only buy a little bit of Yen, live off of that for a while and buy more later. But this is not such a wise idea, I imagine, if the dollar is on its way down for a while. However, if you know a way to buy Yen in Japan without the huge commission hit, then it may be a better option, considering I will be there in a week.
So many financial decisions to make right now.
Wow...

Ry, just liquidate everything you own and buy GOLD! It's a safe and time proven investment, and when the apocolypse hits all these pansies will be crying over their checkbooks and silly paper money while you buy all of the caviar and ivory tusks you could ever desire!
This lady on the television is seriously saying this crap..... I've really got to smash this idiot box.
