i dunno about this fire theft business....

Being a hardcore SDRE fan, I was so psyched to hear the new album...
I 've only listened to it once through, and I hate to say it, but I'm not so impressed.... I think they have that same whack prog-rock sound that sunny day got into with Rising tide..... I dunno.....

I actually must admit that I have yet to hear any tracks by them, but I am certainly open minded to anything Enigk tries out. I am sure they will put on a show worth seeing as well.

This show was off the m-f-in hook! They are so amazing!! If you can only find one song, make sure it is "Carry You." I just can't get it out of my head!! Thanks Buzz and E-to the-D.

OH MY GOD>.....This may have well been a life changing experience....and I wasn't even high! Dude, the chemistry, intensity, and dynamics of this band are incredible! I can't wait to see how far The Fire Theft goes. I had a blast on Saturday, and it was great to hang out with 3 of my closest, long time friends. To Ender, it was great being able to see you and hang for a bit. I only regret that we didn't have more time to spend together while you were here. I hope that you have safe passage to the East, and that your travels are life changing.
ED9K, you bastard guy, we need to start playing together again. Seeing Jeremy and how many changes he's been through over the years has made me realize just how precious music is and how you can speak volumes with notes. We NEED to be on stage again, so don't be stranger. Let's do this fo' shizzle my nizzle!

Yes indeed!!!!!!

I did as well have a very touching experience being with such good company on Saturday. I thoroughly (Like in the cream pants sort of way) enjoyed that show. I was first introduced to SDRE after I saw the Pearl Jam "Drop in the Park" show at Magnussen Park. Cypress Hill, Lazy Susan and Seaweed opened for them, and Seaweed rocked! The next weekend, Seaweed played at Pain in the Grass and when I showed up I saw all these little signs that said "Sunny Day Real Estate", and I was wondering how the hell they could just sell the mural ampitheatre! Back then Jeremy Enigk and Aaron Stauffer looked similar from a distance. So after I thought SDRE was Seaweed, Seaweed came on, and I knew right away that I had found what I was looking for. This show was so good! Jeremy was right on, and like buzz, it made me feel like I need to get involved in music again. Very cool.

I enjoyed most of all the company! Ender and Buzz-you two are a cut above and I really appreciate your friendships.

It was also a pleasure to spend time with Mr. and Mrs. SpeedCricket-very nice time had at the Garage-sorry to ass out so soon!

I will not be a stranger Buzz! Now you have it in writing!

We will start soon on our stated mission!

Went to the Theft show last night at the Showbox with Ender and ED21K, and whoa doggy..........

Opening act-Brandi Carslyle (sp?)
Sat up there with her boyfriend skinhead Todd and played 3 really good songs, just over and over again for an hour. Good harmony though. I think Ender wished to shave his head and learn guitar to be next to little strummer girl who was indeed quite nice to look at.

The Fire Theft! Somebody was filming for a DVD last night, and the boys gave it their all. Jeremy's voice was spot on the whole night. They were rocking out all night......But there was this little annoying matter of the guitar player who stood there looking like he was getting his friggin teeth pulled. He looked constipated-maybe he would rather be at home playing Brit Pop pretending to be Noel Gallagher.....When Jeremy looked over at him he got into it.....then he started rolling his eyes thinking "That Emo bastard.....I hate this shit.....I wish I was back in good ol' Manchester giving a rim job to Margaret Thatcher instead of here in Seattle playing this beautiful SG on stage with three legends of Seattle music....."

Anyway-what an amazing show! The DVD will be a worthwhile investment for anyone who likes Jeremy or the Foos or SDRE or any music that doesn't suck.....Quite the amazing shows to have attended-definitely ranks up there with some of the best I've ever seen.......

Saw NEB and RPDIGGINS which was a nice surprise......

Where the frig was Gerbwa though? Probably at home moistening his hole no doubt! Love you BW-wish you could have come.......

Wristbands, sweatbands, Lemmiwinks.......

Erik, what was this "new car" that you got a year ago.

What has become of the Gaywoo and the Maximo?

Posted: Mon Jun 14, 2004 2:09 pm
by ed9k
It is indeed the car that I got last year.......Honda Accord-much more reliable that the Gaywoo (which had so many problems that we decided we couldn't keep it.....) Auntie bought Grandma another car (a brand new red PT Cruiser) so we got her old Accord, and donated the Gayness to the VOA.......

Alas, poor Maximus, I knew him well......

That car got stolen (hence the rush purchase of Satan's very own wheels the GarygaryGaywoo) and one week before the insurance company was going to total it, they found the car. Thrashed. We assumed it had been used in a monster truck rally or to run drugs across some razorblade border because it was scratched up like so much hand after kitten slicing......

Ahh.....yes.....I loved taking the Gaywoo down to the VOA....I slammed on the brakes, burned out, took corners too fast, etc...much like that Fox that I had....I just hadn't done much of it before because the pile o shit was too delicate....if you farted in it the friggin motor mounts would break......

by McNevin
I'm well aware of farting around motor mounts. Remeber my first gti?

How about the throttle cable in the hyundai (very similar to gaywoo)

Wow...

I don't even know anything about this whole band but I am excited for some reason! I'd be down to take part in any concert goings - but only if ed9k is there!

Late response from my internet mooching ass. The Fire Theft show last night?... un-be-freekin-lievable!! I could not believe how ON they were! Every song Jeremy gave his very most to. He was straight up rocking out!! It was one of those show where I was so into the music that all of the sudden it just ended and I was left checking my watch and not believing 50 minutes had just passed. It was, in fact, quite a short set... but they played every song they had. Especially grand was the amazing "Carry You" which they played second, and also "Chain" which came a song or two later. I cannot wait until they put some new material out. Big thanks to E.D. for completely enjoying the show to its fullest with me. Reminded me a lot of the old days and coming out of a show soooo pumped up from what we had just seen. Awesome!

oh...

Fucked Up Fire Theft

I noticed the other day that my The Fire Theft album's tracks are all messed up. Upon further research I realized it wasn't just me.

Check out All Music.

This listing is incorrect. Maybe you can lend a little assisstance here Erik, but here is what I can figure to be the correct track listing:

1. Uncle Mountain 4:03
2. untitled? 1:02 (no lyrics)
3. Oceans Apart 4:15
4. Chain 3:43
5. Backwards Blues 2:46 (no lyrics)
6. Summertime 4:01
7. Houses 3:14
8. Waste Time 4:15
9. Heaven 4:12
10. Rubber Bands 4:01 (no lyrics)
11. It's Over 4:01
12. Carry You 4:22
13. Sinatra 14:49 (silence 8:10-8:53, no lyrics after 8:10)

Is the untitled track in the right place? Does it come first? It doesn't help that 3 songs have no lyrics and 2 have the same running time but All Music still messed this up pretty badly. Speaking of...

I remember

I remember you mentioning this when you ripped the disc after the first show in the wayback. Yes, the track listing is all messed-even on the disc itself it's wrong........ The lyrics on the inside of the case also don't correspond with teh order......

To confirm:

1. Uncle Mountain (4:03)
2. Waste Time Segue (instrumental) (1:02)
3. Oceans apart (4:15)
4. Chain (3:43)
5. Backwards Blues (instrumental) (2:46)
6. Summertime (4:01)
7. Houses (3:14)
8. Waste time (4:14)
9. Heaven (4:12)
10. Rubber Bands (This song is not wholly instrumental. There is a scream that starts at 3:13. Jeremy comes in on the right channel only, very much lower than the rest of the music at 3:33.) (4:01)
11. It's over (4:01)
12. Carry you (4:22)
13. Sinatra (14:49) Your analysis is nearly spot-on.

There are three songs with 4:01 times, they did it all to confuse us! They are continuing that "mystery" that surrounded SDRE.

C'mon Jeremy! We love you man, you don't have to make this hard on us...I still think this is one of the most solid albums in a long time.

I agree fully. This one just gets better with every listen and that last live show blew my frickin mind!

I just can't believe that I have been listening to the songs thinking they were called something else for the last year. Note: in the review above it was "It's Over" and not "Carry You" that I was referring to.

I really wish we had gotten a longer set out of them.. the two Sigourney lesbians that opened might have played as long if not longer than the fire theft if I remember correctly.

Still... great damn show..
