Richard Chaimberlain: 3 Dollar Bill Y'all

Post by mistasparkle* »

Saw Richard Chamberlain on Larry King talking about his new book this morning... Turns out he's been in the closet his whole life, and his new book is his "coming out". In true Larry King fashion, it was the worst interview possible, with the most inane questions, all having to do with him being gay. I don't know why I even bother to watch Larry King.... I guess it's out of disgust...?

I know... There really isn't any excuse... but I finished reading Shogun recently, and watched the 1st episode of the mini-series last week, so I was kinda interested to see if he had anything to say about it.

Pardon, what did he say?

All I remember of Shogun was that after a Japanese person had said something very quickly in Japanese, Richard Chamberlain would turn to somebody else and ask "What did s/he just say?" At first I thought this was a good way of getting authentic foreign language into a film instead of using subtitles or fake accents. But the realism began to grate after a while.

Give me a cartoonish German or Russian accent over realism any day. "Achtung, ze tommies arr koming! I see zem wiz my binokulars!"
