It's Gorillaz, circa 2005.

So how could you see them in concert if they aren't actually a real band?

Why are they not a real band? That is like saying NIN isn't a real band because Trent makes most of the music himself. They have just created these cartoon character personas.

I've seen them 3 times. The first with McNevin at the Paramount in 2002 (their first album didn't come out until 2001) which was the coolest video show I've ever seen. They played the entire set behind a screen.

I can't remember where the second show I saw was but I remember the visuals weren't as cool.

And the third time was a few weeks ago at Coachella. They closed out the entire concert and they were in front of the screen. Unfortunately I found their Coachella set a bit weak and they didn't have much in the way of guests (Snoop in a video??). It was a cool show but expectations were pretty high.

They are classified as a "virtual band" and the videos I linked to had embedding disabled.

Wow YouTube turns 5, and now there are ads, like real ads. I had to watch a Tylenol PM 15 sec ad before I could watch the gorillas video. I didn't embed my post either because it was disabled as well.

I don't know what is worse the ads or the incredibly overly frustrated with their own lives so immensely bad they take it out on every single video that they see over and over again in order to feel better somehow by putting down the poster any way they can...It makes me hate people sometimes.
