I was in Montana over the 4th of July and tried out a friend's longboard and am now hooked! I remember folks talking about longboards on another thread but couldn't find that info., so, any advice I need before making the big purchase?

So what does one of those bad boys cost? Where were you riding it Jason? Just down the streets? I'd like to give one a go.

The Surf-One Classic seems to come well recommended;
Surf-One Classic 43"x8½", Randal RII 150's (Med Randal Reds & thin shock pads), ryptonics 70mm 90a -- street cruising, carving, sliding, pumping

The deck itself is $59 or thereabouts.

I was just cruising around in the street sometime after midnight. I never really turned on to regular skateboards because of the way the small wheels tended to stick in mid-size cracks. I tried out two different longboards, and even though the road was rough, the ride was nice and smooth thanks to those big-ass wheels. One was a smaller pintail that had kind of stiff trucks, and the other was a nice almost-snowboard with loose trucks. Both were flat boards. I was planning on getting something in the $120 price range, but if the Surf-One Classic is as good as advertised, that could prob make for a nice beginner board eh?
