Like the large WXGA display, wonder what these bad boys will cost? I so want one. Are the keys any bigger?

The keys would be normal size. My Samsung and the Gateway (which is also 1366x768) have normal sized keys. That little ASUS I had (the 8" one) had small keys.

I'd like to see how a few things run on it. (and would also like to know the price)

Closed system or not, the iPad looks kinda nice. I enjoy my Touch3G, so I don't see why I wouldn't like a bigger one. However, something as pretty from a more open ended company would be nice. The problem is, whenever someone tries to copy Apple, it ends up uglier, and has a much lower coolness factor. I'd rather have an iPad that would run open-source software. But it would have to still look like an iPad.

Here is a look at the Pinetrail N450 / "ION 2" version of the Eee PC 1201N, called the ASUS Eee PC 1201PN

Apparently the 1201PN doesn't have Optimus tech, which turns off the ION2 when not needed. Looks like we'll have to wait for the 1215N, which is actually a dual core, and set for a hopeful June release.

I played with an Eee PC at Best Buy a week or two ago, I couldn't stand the space bar.

ipad...

...no really...

I think I'll be getting one for my next porta-comp. Anything that it can't do can be easily done on anything else I have already. Plus it has pretty decent 3D capabilities too.

However, they have Seam on Mac now, so maybe a low-end MacBook might be the ticket too.

Ipad... meh. Too many limitations.

Bos: The 1215's keyboard was redesigned, the keys were shifted around compaired to the 1201, hopefully they corrected the space.

Sad news. The 1215N has been pushed back to December. :(
But the 1201PN (N450+ION2,sans Optimus) is now shipping... Although I want a netbook NOW, I will wait for Optimus version. I also like the trackpad/keyboard design on the 1215 better, not to mention having USB3.0 will be good for 3 years down the road.

My personal theory is that the 1215N is ready now, but they are intentionally delaying it due to the fact its essentially the same computer as the 1201PN (not counting dual-core and optimus). If they released them both now, no one would buy the 1201PN.

Asus ripped USB 3.0, and Bluetooth out of the 1215N! I don't really care about USB3, but I'd like to connect to my phone with BT. I'm really surprised they did this. Couple this news with the reviews saying that the keyboard flexes horribly, and you have a deal breaker. I wont be buying this.

The hunt continues...

I know this will only incite more pro iPad propaganda, but I'm posting it anyway. :)

ASUS! What the hell people! You need to stick to your publicized specifications! I'm still mad about the 1215n, but I thought I might have a 2nd chance with a 10" 1015PN. wrong!

Now they have swapped the originally promised 1366x768 with a 1024x768 display.

They swapped windows home premium with windows starter. Windows starter and optimus is a real pain, you have to reboot to go in or out of optimus. What a joke!

No USB3 either!

Someone please make a decent optimus netbook!
