Some notes regarding the program at the recently completed Tribeca Film Fest. Tribeca is the first big American indie fest of the summer and gets a good share of promising summer counter programing to the big blockbusters.

What looks interesting:

Charlie Bartlett - This is my company's flick starring Anton Yelchin and Robert Downey Jr. It is a modern day Ferris Bueller-ish story about kid that becomes his high school's de facto shrink. I have seen this, it is great, and you should consider checking it out when it comes out in theaters on Aug. 3rd.

2 Days in Paris Julie Delpy wrote, directed, and stars in a comic romp through paris co-starring personal fave Adam Goldberg (Dazed & Confused).

Black Sheep New Zealand comic-horror about rabid mutant sheep.

Blue State Anna Paquin and Breckin Meyer star in this lighthearted story of a guy who actually makes the much joked about move to Canada after the 2004 election.

Day Zero Potentially interesting premise of a group of guys set to report for duty after the draft is reinstated might be marred by cast of Elijah Wood and Chris Klein.

A Dirty Carnival A very promising Korean crime epic from director Yu Ha.

The Education of Charlie Banks Fred Durst's directorial debut in a mean streets coming of age movie touted for its interesting use of music.

The Grand Marvel's go-to screen writer Zak Penn's story of Woody Harrelson in a high stakes poker tourney with David Cross, Ray Romano, and more.

The Man of Two Havanas Interesting sounding docu about a staunch Castro supporter in very anti Castro 1960s Miami.

Normal Adolescent Behavior Potentially interesting drama about promiscuous high school teens.

Palo Alto A "one eventful night at an important turning point in a cast of characters' lives" story (a la American Graffiti, Dazed & Confused, etc.) impressively put together by some college students.

The Power of the Game Michael Apted's docu examining the importance of Soccer around the world.

The Road to St. Diego An interesting sounding Argentine road comedy.

Suburban Girl Sarah Michelle Gellar plays a young book editor looking for a quick way to the top with a high powered exec played by Alec Baldwin.

Gardener of Eden Kevin Connolly's (E from Entourage) directorial debut in this comic book inspired story of a young man (Lukas Haas) who decides to take the law into his own hands.

Taxi to the Dark Side Alex Gibney's (Enron) latest docu about the Bush administration and the state of world affairs.

Tuya's Marriage Top prize winner at Berlin, this story about a woman in Mongolia is touted for its remarkable cinematography.

Watching the Detectives Broken Lizard's Paul Soter directed this quirky film starring Cillian Murphy and Lucy Liu.

West 32nd Michael Kang's (The Motel) cop drama about the NY's Korean underworld starring John Cho.

The Workshop Very explicit docu about a California workshop run by a sex fueled guru obsessed with aliens.
