not 1024.

I like 1024 better. I like all things 8. (or anything bit-wise for that matter) Kilo SHOULD mean 1024.

Or perhaps, just to make everyone happy, Kilo should mean, In the neighborhood of 1000...

no i am not happy! when you say, "yo G, i got a kilo of smack!", do you mean 1024 grams of smack? every dawg knows that a 56K modem is trickin' at 56,000 bits per second, not 57,344. Shit!

Well they are already trying to make 1024 bytes into a kibibyte, instead of a kilobyte.

Kibibyte makes ME angry. Stupid word... Tell it I hate it!

Some people think Kilobyte should equal 1000 bytes... but they're so wrong...

Also 1024 grams of smack is much like a baker's dozen. It's a dealer's kilo. So there...

damn it! no!

when you say, "I'll give you 3K for your baker's dozen of smack", do you mean $1,024×3 = $3,072?

Of course 3072! Or 4096 (which happens to be another favorite number of mine.)

"Give me 16,384 grams of smack!" I'd say...

"Give me 16,777,216 grams of DMT stat!: I'd say...

I'll take "32,768 grams of flour for baking cookies."

I'll need 512 grams of sugar too.

Of course it's easier if you just tell them:

Give me 14 bits worth of smack!

Or, 24 bits worth of DMT.

Does this all mean that one millibyte is 1/1024 of a byte?

I lost a few yoctobytes of data due to the recent Taiwan earthquake. Can I sue the Taiwanese government?

Â¥16bits, eh? How many hogsheads of marmalade could I get with that?

How many catties are in a hogshead?
How many firkins for that matter?
