That verification has been there since V2.0 I think. These botstards have been slipping into here on many occasions since then. Like I said before, there should be a login page before you can even look at the forum index. That would take care of all of it. How many non-monkey-type people do we want in here anyway? None I'd say. I would say that we want the group that's here now, and anyone else we come across that should join, we'd just give the password to. Just a single password page with one password would work quite well. Change it once every six months, and that's that. That would also mean people like me who work in an industry that could easily access this place, could speak a little more freely on certain subjects as well. I also wouldn't ask people to not use my real name in here either. I've been googled before when trying to get a job, and luckily then the only thing that came up was my name in the credits for some of the games I've worked on. Notice I don't join in the pir8 threads that often, I don't talk about chemicals that often, I ask people to take my name out of threads, etc. This place should be completely private to us and our friends. You want someone to join, send them the password. Could even have it baked into a good old fasioned cookie, so that we wouldn't have to repeatedly enter it.

That's what I wanted to do, destroy him. Banning just seems silly since once deleted the same botstard would likely not appear again. (it would be under a different name/ip I would think)
ngah ha ha ha ha <--read this in the voice of the Impossible Mission guy (as referenced above)

Apparently, there's a new form of verification out there which, rather than using distorted text, has one identify which images are kittens and not puppies... Robots seem not to know the difference...
Stupid robots.

yeah the password thing would be cool...some level of security would be rather nice as well as being the most simple thing to implement.

Those posts were by a "guest" - which are not allowed in this forum... so in other words it was a hack. First time I have seen it. Right now you probably notce crazy new users for a while, before the last new user on the main page turns back to our twisted british friend. Those users are not active and cannot post, they are just bots joining hoping people will look at the profile and click the links in there. Today's attack is something new. I'll investigate.

I would advise using extreme predjudice during your investigation.

I have just made some security upgrades. Please report any noticed change to usability. Also please do not do any kind of moderating of spam if you were previously inclined so I can see test results.
