US ex-postal employee kills six
A female ex-postal worker has shot dead six people at a sorting office in California, before committing suicide.
One other person is in a critical condition, the authorities said.
The incident took place at around 2115 local time on Monday (0515 GMT on Tuesday) in the coastal town of Goleta, near Santa Barbara.
More than 50 people were working at the 24-hour sorting office at the time of the shooting. All the victims were believed to be postal workers.
"The suspect is believed to be a female ex-employee of this post office who entered the building with an unknown type of firearm and began shooting," Sgt Erik Rainey of Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department said.
He added that police initially found two people dead outside the plant.
Two women were found wounded inside and taken to hospital, where one later died.
The authorities said that a search of the mail complex revealed four more bodies, including one believed to be that of the killer.
Police teams sealed off the building and were looking for more victims, local media said.
