Went to the final day of the New Year Grand Sumo tournament this past Sunday. Best thing was seeing the prizes that the winner (Tochiazuma) got.
Among the winnings:
A trophy filled with shitake mushrooms:
A platinum watch (custom-sized to fit his chubby wrists), a year supply of Coca-Cola (symbolized by this giant silver Coke bottle) and one whole, live prize cow, symbolized by the cow trophy in the back; I really wish they had walked the live cow up into the dohyo:
A genie in a bottle, presented by a Saudi government representative/ghost; the winner is entitled to one year's supply of wishes:
