Nero 7

Post by enderzero »

Anyone using this yet?

I installed it and was very annoyed to see a multi directory install structure worse than any I have ever encountered. It forces you to install to
"Nero 7\Nero 7\"

That means the exe for an install set to c:\applications\nero ends up at:
"c:\applications\nero\Nero 7\Nero 7\Core\nero.exe"

If that wasn't bad enough (I fixed with a find/replace reg tool) it also has some horrible resource hogging processes that run along with it. NMIndexStoreSVR.exe grabs over 40MBs of memory and NMBgMonitor.exe wants 5MB - and those aren't even the only ones! NMFirstStart.exe is crushing my CPU.

This CDFreaks thread has some more comments as well as a fix for the process problems.

I haven't actually burned anything yet, but the burning program itself seems pretty damn similar to 6.

I installed it, said "eww" and then reinstalled 6!

Every time you open an ISO with nero 7, it leaves a little bmp in the dir that the iso is in, so I had all these bmps all over my harddrive, i probably still have some that i havnt found yet!

Well, I installed it, and have seen neither of the items stated above. Works just like 6 did for me. Interesting. I got the 900MB download.

Do you have "Nero Scout" listed in My Computer? If you r.click and go to options is it enabled? That ISO thing is stupid. I'll probably go back to 6 as soon as I bother.

Oops, silly me, I downloaded 7, but I'm still running 6. :D
