The most important week of our lives
Overly dramatic? I don't think so. In one week we will know who the next president of the country will be. Right now it is really neck and neck... which is sad to begin with. If the people speak and George W. Bush is reelected president we will have shown to the rest of the world that the American people are misinformed, selfish, warmongering, hate filled people. It will be hard to admit that we are Americans when we travel abroad. It will deal women's reproductive rights an immense blow, possibly resulting in the repeal of Roe V. Wade (at least 1 maybe 2 or 3 Supreme Court justices will be appointed during the next 4 years). It will cause yet more suffering to the environment and the Earth's ecosystem. It will send a clear message to the rest of the world that we as Americans do not care about anything but our own prosperity and we are deaf to the cries from the many nations telling us that we are on the wrong path and we must correct ourselves immediately. John Kerry is not Ghandi, and he will not solve all of the nation's problems, but electing him president will show the world that we are taking a first step back towards the right path.
Good luck to us all.
Good luck to us all.

I am so ridiculously nervous about tomorrow. I just can't wrap my head around the message it sends to the world if we reelect Bush.
Out of the 50 poll composite today on electoral-vote Kerry is coming out on top... but it is close. No one knows right now if polling can be trusted at all and a good sign of that is just how all over the place the polls have been in the last few weeks. Have people really been flip-flopping that much or are the polls fundamentally messed up? Some people point to polls being skewed in Bush's favor.
All we can do now is wait.

So here we are on the eve of the decision that will shape our lives, our country, and our world. I am pretty confident that it will come down to the people's vote. I seriously don't think that Bush has the ability at this point to really sway the election by underhanded means he might have employed last time. He can't be willing to take the chance, because there are a whole lot more people looking for them this time. If the democrats had the teams in place that they have this year then Gore would have been president. Maybe 4 dark years of this administration is what we needed to remind ourselves that we can make positive changes. I just really hope that enough people have realized that the worst possible step that America can take is to say to the world tomorrow that we don't feel we need to make a change.electoral-vote.com wrote:As I have discussed repeatedly, normally people with a cell phone but no landline are not polled. Most of these are in the 18-29 year old group. Up until now, no one has known how their absence from the polling data might affect the results. Zogby has now conducted a very large (N = 6039) poll exclusively on cell phones using SMS messaging to get a feeling of how they will vote. The results are that they go strongly for Kerry, 55% to 40%, with a margin of error of only 1.2%. If they all vote tomorrow, the pollsters are going to spend the rest of the week wiping egg from their faces. But historically, younger voters have a miserable turnout record, so the pollsters need not yet stock up on paper towels.
All we can do now is wait.
