Just got all the .88 ROMs and such last night. They shall be merged into place today or tomorrow. I've actually started making use of the Joymaster MkII again. It all started when SpiderChoki decided that he wanted to play Momoko 120%. Now I'm back into the arcade games again. Anyone who sends me a hard drive, will be blessed with the new collection. I'd recommend sending it after 11/22 though, as I'll be in Hawaii until then.

Have new mame revisions always come this quick? I'm not nearly the mame connoisseur that you all are and it seems that I just completed the whole .87 set a week ago. Has it always been like this since .01? It's damn hard to keep up with.

They've gone a little nutty lately. I think they're really pushing for that 1.0. It's always been a bit of a task, but now they spit something out every two weeks or so. Bleh...

Mame destroyed my registry...and my os install...i dunno...should i like it? no. I hate it.

MAME DID NOT DESTROY YOUR REGISTRY!!!! It doesn't even use it. YOU HAVE QUESTIONABLE MEMORY!!!! Like I said, you need the proper memory for your system. Seth said it's fairly unstable in general. Your registry just happened to die while you were using MAME. Even if MAME used the registry heavily, I doubt that it could do any damage. I've never heard of a single other person that's had your problem. MAME stores everything in .CFG or .INI files. I think I've said all this, but hey, if you don't want to use it, oh well.

Ahhh i see! Youre thinking I'm crazy for downloading 10 gigs, through my bluetooth. That is crazy! I may be crazy, but not THAT crazy.
Sorry, I meant BitTorrent, by my abreviation of BT.

If you use MAME Merge, please send me an empty email with the subject line as "MM: I use it" or something similar. There are a lot of things I would like to do with MM but if nobody uses it anymore it's just not worth the effort. Comments and suggestions are also most welcome.

J3rk: Do you do Split, or Full merge?
Posted: Tue Nov 02, 2004 12:29 pm
by Beeeph
what does the total size of .88 sit at currently?

by McNevin
Amazingly EXACTLY 10.0 GB
I'm merging (Split) with full compression, to try and get it to fit on 2 DVDRWs.

I use merged still. I tried split, but I didn't like it. It was easier in that you can just drop a split rom in if it's missing, but I like less files, for when I look through the folders.
We need to compare lists of CHD files. I'll make a list in the next day or two, and maybe you could BT the missing ones. So, did you ummm.... get to the post office?

No post office, i'll try and do that today.

The split merge, max compression = 10 gigs.
DOH, 2 hours wasted.

Yeah, I usually stick with the mid-range compression. It's a little quicker.
Post Office? Postie?

That's cool, I have to find somewhere to store all that stuff anyway. That's the only thing my PC lacks. Storage. I've upgraded everything but my HDDs. I wouldn't mind two mirrored 400GB drives. MMMMMMMMMMM.... two mirrored 400GB drives..... mmmmmmmm.....
