Star Wars DVDs

The Rumor was George Lucas was going to wait till all 6 films were finished before releasing episodes 4, 5, and 6 on DVD. The reason being he was pist about the cash he spent on the shortly lived Laser disc (which I still buy), and since nobody can hold a grudge like Lucas, he refused to release the classic episodes on the every popular DVD disc until all six episodes were finished. Maybe this is all old news to everyone else, but I was unaware of this new release until I saw the DVDs posted on the newsgroups a couple hours ago. And right as I began to think, "Great, another crappy laserdisc rip shrunk to fit on a DVD", I look up and see the commercial advertising the all new DVD trilogy being released next week. So now I'm pissed that Lucas waited so friggen long only to cave in, because I'm the fool that went out and paid $160 for three fat ass laserdiscs since DVD wasn't an option, and of course neither is VHS. I hope all DVD media is quickly phased out and holographic storage discs take over really soon. Needless to say...I'm downloading the trilogy right now.

Not sure if this problem would exist on (yarrrr!) downloaded versions, but saw an article on BoingBoing about the new dvd set and its unwanted after effect on modded xboxes.

Sneaky fat bastards.

Good looking out on that. However it shouldn't affect anyone with a newer bios (i.e. you) because your bios skips the xboxdash.xbe and loads either evox.xbe or avalaunch.xbe. Back in the ol days you used to have to rename your dashboard (usually evox) to xboxdash.xbe to get it to load. I actually noticed that update.xbe on the battlefront disc and was wonderin about it.

Very sneaky indeed...
