We need some kind of way we can upload SIDs to enderzero.net and listen to them while Monkey Lair-in. Is there some web plug in to get them to play directly off a site. If so I could create a public ftp folder that we could put them in and then when you uploaded them you could just update the index.htm or something. Can't do OpenWiki... What do you think?

There was a way that you could do that sort of thing in OpenWiki using some kind of a plugin but I never figured it out. We really don't need that much though right? You say your ISP allows for ftp hosting so I'd think that would be enough...
T'would be cool if we could have some really cool easy to navigate HTTP interface where it was easy to upload/download de choonz... I could probably write some .net'd out application that could do it but could the enderzero.net host .net aspx stuff? Although this is probably a bad idea because it would cost at least $687,000,000.00 to do something like that and it would probably take at least 0.0833333 l2icks0r! years to complete...

No aspx, but if you want to do it in cgi, then we are a go.
Right - the ftp would be fine, but I am concerned with the html interface...
I want to be able to play them thru the browser, not download and play...can winamp play SIDs?

There's got to be a plugin for it or something... Maybe someone should investigate it...

I was kinda hoping someone that knew a lot about that there stuff (ahem, you) would take the initiative...being that you don't have a job and all.
Does nothing spring to J3RK's mind immediately?
Well...

I suppose I could take a few minutes out of my incredibly busy schedule to do a little browsing, installing, and testing...
Sorry...

I have been supa-busificated until today... So, there is indeed a SID plugin for WinAMP. It doesn't sound as good as the SID Player, but it works pretty well. I can go through my collection of 13,000 SIDs and pick out say, a Top 100. Then we could stick them in the webspace, with a WinAMP playlist. They are only a couple K each at the most. I'll see if I can remember where to get that plugin.

Sounds good, but it would be best if we could have some kind of dynamic graphical interface for adding new SIDs - picking a SID at random, or at will as the case may be, etc. If it is a winamp plugin we should be able to do it with just html - but it would be cool to have an OpenWiki like interface for uploading etc.
did I mention etc.?

maybe we could just setup a winamp playlist and stream the top 100 sid tunes of all time selected by DJ J3rk using shoutcast?
I was thinking about...

... that, but I don't think it would stream the small SID data, but rather, the large digital audio stream. I would love to setup playlists for a shoutcast solution, but I don't think the webspace could take it captain. (Scottish accent.) We need to find something that streams just the tiny SID data, then the client would do all of the playing. I could set up a 24 hour rotation, then unless you were on at the same time every day, it would be different music. Or we could set it up so that everyone's favorite tunes played at the time of day they were most likely going to be on here. I go on mostly in the mid to late morning, so I could put my favorites on during that time. Then if Ender is on a few hours earlier or later, (not going to think about it right now,) his favorites play then. Or something.

Oooh, that sounds good. You could just make a 23 hour rotation so it would change an hour a day...or sumethin.
So here is my new vision.
An easy to upload to interface. Start with say 100 or so SIDs and then have a little interface where users could rank them on a 1 to 10 scale and add a little comment. Then the page would automatically sort the SIDs by ranking and we could just click what we wanted to listen to off the page. It is so small it wouldn't need to stream - just download to your temp folder. Then when a new cool one was found you would just upload it, it would show up in the "new" area and users would rank it. After a couple days it would take it's place in the Top100 SIDs list.
My hosting has support for: MySQL, Full CGI-BIN, C++, PHP 4.04, TCL, Python, ePerl, Perl 5.xx.
