Should get back even further, and play SS1 and SS2. Bioshock is VERY cool, and most of the elements of the former(ish) games are there, and many are improved, however the overall feel of SS1 and SS2 are just a touch nicer. A little less refined, but they immerse you a bit more into some thick and isolating atmosphere. SS2 is easy enough to get going on a new system, but if you want to play SS1, let me know, and I'll send you a nice, neat little package for doing so.

I have completed bioshock!
What a great game, I'm now eagerly awaiting any news regarding co-op.

Yes, I would love to play some co-op. Someone must be working on a hack at the very least. It's the UT2.5/3 engine, so mods shouldn't be that hard to make for it. I'm going to give it another play sometime soon. (perhaps after I play some of the November releases.) There are quite a few things that I think could be done differently.
