Half-Life 2: Lost Coast is now available for play for all Half-Life 2 owners.
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, a single-player level custom-created to showcase High-Dynamic Range lighting (HDR) in the Source engine, is available now to all owners of HL2. As a technology showcase, Half-Life 2: Lost Coast's system requirements are very high. During installation, Steam will prompt you if your system does not meet the recommended configuration.

It's pretty stupid. It looks EXTREMELY good, but it's not really much of a level. You can listen to Gabe Newell's commentary if you want I think they need to go back through and edit the rest of the game to look like TLC. Cool tech demo though.
Now is the time on Sprockets when you play further into Quake IV! Good stuff that.

ok...gather around and...
listen up...i've been away investigating the addictive affects of this new game battlefield 2 and its ties to the sigma underground. In the process, I've strayed off course and have become a bit lost. Battlefield 2 has completely ruined me for all FPS'rrrrrs! For the last two months, I've been unable to give greatly anticipated shooters the time they deserve due to the highly immersive nature of bf2. Quake4...I've been anxiously waiting years for its release and it received a total of 30 mins of my time. The F.E.A.R. demo...not nearly fun enough to justify spending no time downloading it for free. All these games are feeling far more like trainers than the good ol’ fashioned bang em up shooters that used to bring about a decent amount of twitching in me. Right now, I'm downloading the new Call of Duty and I'm desperately hoping it will give me some amount of enjoyment as I've yet to prematurely put down anything related to Call of Duty in the past. I don't know what to do, but it aint lookin good.

P.S. I blame this all on the white man. Kill...Kill...Kill...the white man.
P.P.S. I've missed you fuqers!. commence active monqiphication.
P.P.P.S. perhaps a bang em up multiplayer shooter session of q4 in the near future is all I’m needing…

Damn right that's what you're needing. I uninstalled BF2. I bought it, and now it sits in the box of spare PC parts, because it doesn't even warrant a position in the archives. If it survives the box, then I suppose I'll still admit to owning it. I was having a little fun with it, but then I realized just how boring it is. It's like CS used to be for people. People would just play the same two levels for days on end. I jumped in once in a while, and thought it was pretty fun, but the more I played it, the more boring it got. (and I even enjoy some tactical play from time to time) I'd be up for some F.E.A.R. multiplayer, and I'm ALWAYS up for some Quakery-Pokery. Q4 is quite the nice game. Down with Sigma-Field-2!!
That just shows what you know.
That might just be the problem Admiral. I prefer 4-16 of my friends on a LAN to 64 wacky internet funsters any old day of the fucking week. AND I'll take the Pepsi challenge...
Just not really into it. I do enjoy creeping up on unsuspecting vehicles with a nice plastic charge. It's not a terrible game, it's just a lot less my style of game. I'm just not much of an online social gamer. I even play Guild Wars alone. (though I wouldn't mind having a friend or two join me)
I'll toss it back on the system again sometime. In the meantime, if Choki wants to borrow it, I'm all for that. I've got too many other games that I enjoy more to play right now. Quake IV, F.E.A.R. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, and my proper copy of Riddick (long story there) just showed up, so I was going to give that another play-through.
So, Riddick doesn't like 7800 series cards without the update. I try to run the patch, and it can't find the correct file to patch. I figure it's the crack, so I reinstall it, then try the patch before I copy the crack over. Still doesn't work. So, I ordered a copy for $12. I get it, it does the same thing. I'm currently having a discussion with tech support, but at least I have a legal copy in case they ask. I can't believe their own patch won't run on a retail copy. Jerks.
That shows you where BF2 is on my list though. I'd rather go back through Riddick once, before I play it again.
(then again Riddick is still in my top 10 shooters)

Think I've got about 20 minutes left of Quake IV. Excellent game. I really can't think of anything that they should have changed, except perhaps to make the game a bit longer. Everything else though, is simply splendid. I love the fact that it runs so fast and smooth. It's truly like playing Quake 2 or 3A, but with a fancy new engine. So who's going to play with me? I can Hamachi up about 6-7 players on my connection reliably. (I only have 384Kb upstream.) Since only that many or less would join, I think it should be fine. I could possibly do a bit of Quaking this evening in the later hours.
