Ideas for the next round?
I know that nobody really wants to go to war, but the cowboy atop the saddle of our sad nation has his little black heart set on destroying our country's reputation (if there was one to destroy at all) and a whole lot of civilian life all in the name of bringing democracy to Iraq. While it seems like some view this move as positive, there are some very vocal opponents to the war. Unfortunately, W doesn't dictate national policy by "focus group", and our say isn't even being considered. What I would like to hear are some people's ideas for the next round of elections. Who has a voice that could lead America back to self respect? What other sorts of options could we explore to find a more peaceful world situation?

Great topic dude. What do you think of Gary Hart? I heard him speak on CNN a couple times and I like what he has to say. Definitely not Joe Lieberman.
So Dad, you brought up a good point in the guestbook. Is it treason to root against the US in the war? I cannot decide what I want. If the war is quick and painless the US looks good and Bush gets more popular. The best that could come from this is disaster - giving Bush the boot and changing the way Ameicans think about the world. But how is that supposed to happen without suffering? I don't want a long war, but I also don't want a successful war. Quite confusing.

Just saw Dan Rather on Larry King this morning (it just happened to be on.... I dont normally watch larry king.... i swear ). In reply to a question regarding the lack of WMD in post-war Iraq: "American people aren't really concerned that WMD haven't been found, and they should move on anyway." OH yea.... no need to harp over silly things like the president and his administration lying to the country right!
Move on, move on, nothing interesting back there
That 'move on' line has got to be one of the most overused tropes in US politics. How ever did it get to be that ignoring all the bad shit, the lies, the murder, the rape, forgetting it completely and thinking about nothing but today - how did that come to be seen as a moral imperative??
